The house Netflix filmed is the house you sleep in

The property's exterior served for every scene set at the Byers home during the series. The interior sets were built in a studio nearby, and fans rebuilt those rooms inside the real building. Dozens of fans and professionals spent over a year collecting the props: VHS tapes, vinyl records, board games, trinkets, and a 1960s CRT television with a VCR. The listing states the project operates independently of Netflix and was made by fans. 2

Inside, the living room has the painted alphabet wall and the string of lights that hangs above the couch, with a 75-inch television for watching episodes underneath it. The bunk room and Will's room carry black vine sculptures and period dressing; Jonathan's room has an Amiga 500 and a stack of vinyl. Guests can ride BMX bikes around the property. The host asks for patience with the period pieces, including a 1950s lampshade and the 1960s television, and notes that the stove, dishwasher and washer-dryer are new. 2

Lindsey, who lives in Atlanta, gave four stars and listed what bothered her: a one-night stay priced at what two nights used to cost, a 4 p.m. check-in against a 10 a.m. checkout, an unkempt yard, and props that have stopped working. "Yes, it's a house used in a tv series, but it still needs to be nice for guests staying there," she wrote. Airbnb's subscore for value sits at 4.8, the only category below 5.0. 2

What it costs, and the rules that come with it

The nightly rate has climbed since the rental opened. When the campaign to buy the house launched on October 29, 2024, the rates were $350 on weekdays and $750 at weekends, and the property had not yet been reviewed. 6 Time Out's September 2026 figure starts at $1,225 a night, which is where you should set your expectations until you enter dates and Airbnb quotes you. 1

More than 6,700 fans own the house. It sold on November 10, 2022 for $400,000, then the investment platform Arrived crowdfunded it into shares that have paid out rental income; those shares can still be bought from other investors on Arrived's secondary market, where the minimum is $100. 3 6

Renting it comes with conditions that a fan project enforces closely. Every visitor and every vehicle has to be registered with the host before arrival. Parties and gatherings are barred, and the property runs exterior security cameras and indoor noise monitors to enforce that. Commercial photography and videography require the owner's written consent and a $500 fee for influencers and other commercial media, and the listing states it offers no discounts or free stays in exchange for coverage. A building and safety rule caps occupancy at two people per bedroom, so six guests is the ceiling however many bunks stand in that room. Check-in starts at 4 p.m. and checkout is at 10 a.m. 2
