Trader Joe's has a $5.99 lemon tiramisu right now — and the internet says don't sleep on it
Trader Joe's Lemon Flavored Tiramisu just dropped — two servings for $5.99, made by their Italian supplier, and Reddit's r/traderjoes gave it three independent posts in one week. Limited time. Here's what shoppers are actually saying.
If you've been meaning to stop by Trader Joe's this week, add the freezer section to your list.
The Lemon Flavored Tiramisu landed on shelves as a new item in mid-May 2026, and within days it had accumulated three independent Reddit posts on r/traderjoes — none of them from the same person. That kind of unprompted, multi-voice buzz is the fastest way something gets on this channel's radar.
What it is
At $5.99 for a 13.05 oz box, you get two individually packaged servings 1. The construction follows classic tiramisu logic with one key swap: instead of espresso-soaked ladyfingers, you get ladyfingers soaked in lemon syrup, layered with lemon curd and lemon mascarpone cheese. Natural flavoring throughout — no artificial shortcuts 1.
It's made by the same Italian supplier who produces TJ's classic tiramisu, which is a decent signal that the underlying technique is solid 2. One catch: this one lives in the frozen section and needs about 8 hours in the fridge to thaw before you eat it. Plan accordingly — pulling it out the night before dinner is the move 1.
The box is labeled LIMITED TIME, so it won't be on shelves indefinitely 1.
How it actually tastes
Community consensus settles around 7–8 out of 10 — genuinely good, with a couple of qualifications worth knowing.
The mascarpone gets the most consistent praise. Reddit user u/Every-Focus-6421 rated it 7/10 and put it plainly: "The mascarpone is the show stopper of this dessert." 3 The lemon flavor reads more creamy-bright than sharp, and the whole thing is notably light for a dessert in this category.
The same reviewer noted the texture lands closer to tres leches than traditional tiramisu — the ladyfingers absorb the lemon syrup and go soft, giving the whole thing a custardy, pudding-like body rather than the firm-yet-moist bite you'd expect from a coffee version 3. If you go in expecting the classic espresso hit, you might be surprised. If you go in expecting a summery lemon cream dessert, you'll probably be happy.
Meredith Holser at Yahoo Lifestyle called it "the perfect summer dessert pick-me-up" and listed it as her top TJ find for May 4.
One number worth noting: each serving is 460 calories with 49g of sugar 1. That's dessert-dessert territory — not a light snack.
Why three Reddit posts in one week is a signal
Most new TJ products get one post, maybe two. Three independent posts — each from a different user, each appearing organically in the r/traderjoes feed — suggests this one is actually making people stop and pull out their phones in the frozen aisle 235.
u/INGWR's post was titled simply "Don't sleep on the Lemon Tiramisu!" — exactly the kind of earnest enthusiasm that the TJ community tends to trust more than editorial roundups 5.
What to know before you buy
- Price: $5.99 for two servings (about $3 each)
- Location: Frozen section
- Thaw time: ~8 hours in the refrigerator — don't try to rush it at room temperature
- Availability: Limited time only; no stated end date. Trader Joe's limited-time items can disappear without notice, sometimes within weeks of launch
- Per serving: 460 cal, 49g sugar 1
If you're a regular TJ shopper who passes through this week, it's a low-risk $5.99 bet. The community consensus is warm, the Italian pedigree is real, and limited-time items at this price point tend to go before anyone thinks they will.
