August 1 Short Drama Top 10 Watch: The July 29 AI-heavy board meets a live-action cross-platform test
The latest complete merged Hongguo board puts eight AI/manhua dramas in the top ten, while new live-action checkpoints for Tiger Mom and Jianran show where human-led short dramas still convert attention across platforms.
Eight of the ten places on the freshest complete merged Hongguo board I could verify are AI/manhua titles. The new signal is not a made-up rerank: a July 30 live-action-only snapshot put Tiger Mom Arrives, All the Rebellious Family Members Stand Up at 6,959 万 and Jianran at 6,390 万, while Jianran had already crossed 1.2 billion plays on Douyin by its fifth day. The split says the live-action lane still converts attention, even as serialized AI franchises occupy the merged chart. 1 2 3
At 8:00 a.m. Shanghai time on August 1, the latest complete merged board I could verify was the July 29, 7:20 p.m. repost below. I keep it as the benchmark rather than blend it with the July 30 live-action-only list, which is a different chart category and carries its own source disclaimer. New releases are tracked separately at the end. 1 3

The board source prints bare four-digit heat values. I preserve those raw displays instead of adding a unit, commas, decimals, or a synthetic cross-platform score.
What is driving each title
- Jubao Xianpen Season 7 — a serial engine at the top. The 129-episode AI/manhua season continues a cultivation climb built around new realms, rival clans, and a sixfold thunder trial. Season seven is not selling a single twist; it is selling the next installment of a library that already knows how to keep a viewer moving. 4
- Jianzong Tuanchong Xiaoshimei Season 2 — cute-child cultivation with a family payoff. The premise turns an apparently ordinary five-element talent into a rare chaotic spirit root, then places the heroine inside a cash-strapped sect that behaves like a family. That combination gives the manhua a softer emotional loop than a pure power climb; the episode-count conflict itself is worth flagging, with Baidu Baike listing 62 and another late-July list saying 666. 5 6
- Dou Chongsheng Season 4 — familiar rebirth, refreshed stakes. The fourth-season metadata gives the show 83 episodes and keeps the hook on Lu Chuan's second chance, business bets, and a group of friends who mistake his composure for a hidden superpower. Season numbering is doing real work here: viewers are not discovering a one-off premise, they are returning to a continuing urban-rebirth loop. 7
- Tiger Mom — an absurd family premise with real episode fuel. A butcher's tough older sister takes over a wealthy household and tries to straighten out three troubled children, giving each episode a new domestic clash instead of one long revenge plot. The merged-board source uses the title ending 「乖乖站立」, while other posts use 「乖乖立正」; the July 30 live-action-only list still placed the show first at 6,959 万, so the title variant does not change the live-action signal. 8 3
- Fapei Bianguan Season 9 — the farming serial has become the product. The story keeps returning to the same durable promise: a displaced couple turns a barren borderland into a working household while the next crisis arrives. A late-July list gives this season 80 episodes, but the Baidu Baike entry does not publish a count; that is a metadata gap, not a reason to turn an estimate into a fact. 9 6
- Jianran — the live-action title with the clearest conversion signal. At the five-day checkpoint, the show was reported at 7,782 万 Hongguo heat and more than 120 million Douyin plays; by July 27, its combined play total was reported above 1 billion after nine days. Those are different dates and mixed metrics, but together they explain why a live-action urban romance can hold No. 6 inside an AI-heavy board. 2
- Jianzong Tuanchong Xiaoshimei Season 1 — the back catalog is still live. The first season is listed at 300 episodes, while a separate source reports 666 for Season 2; the pair therefore occupies two chart slots through both new-season curiosity and a large catch-up archive. That is a different advantage from a short-lived launch spike: the franchise gives viewers somewhere to go after the first click. 12 6
- Suyi Chuanshu Season 3 — the rural slow-burn reaches the top ten. The 91-episode AI/manhua season keeps the series' farming-and-family frame, using soap-making, small trade, and household repair as its emotional rewards rather than a nonstop power ladder. Its No. 8 position matters because two earlier seasons sit immediately below it: the audience is following a world, not just a single season. 13 1
- Suyi Chuanshu Season 2 — repetition becomes reassurance. Baidu Baike lists 153 episodes and describes a separated daughter rebuilding the family through practical work, food, and small business. In a chart crowded with cultivation and rebirth, that ordinary-life rhythm gives the franchise a distinct retention loop. 16
- Suyi Chuanshu Season 1 — the entry point remains competitive. The late-July metadata list gives the first season 154 episodes, and the board keeps it at No. 10 beside Seasons 2 and 3. Three adjacent seasons are the day's clearest sign that AI/manhua heat is being produced by catalog depth as much as by a single opening scene. 6 1
The new cross-platform check
- Jianran: the strongest verified checkpoint is five days after launch: 7,782 万 on Hongguo and 120 million-plus plays on Douyin. By day nine, the same report says total plays had passed 1 billion; it does not provide a July 29 platform-by-platform split, so that number should not be read as a same-day Douyin snapshot. 2
- Tiger Mom: a July 30 live-action-only list gives it 6,959 万, above the 6,550 raw display on the merged July 29 board. A separate Sina repost of a verified entertainment account says the 72-episode show had passed 1 billion effective views by July 27; the two figures use different chart categories and dates, so they stay separate. 3 8
- Kuaishou: no comparable current title-level heat or play-count snapshot was verifiable by the cutoff. It is left blank rather than used to manufacture a cross-platform rank.
July 30–31 launch watch
These titles are fresh tests, not replacements for the July 29 ranking. None had a comparable merged-board heat value that I could verify by the August 1 cutoff.
- 花田喜事 (Huatian Xishi): a 61-episode rural-revitalization comedy launched on Hongguo on July 31. It sends a Northeast woman and her returned wealthy boyfriend back to Lingyuan to grow lilies, tying the romance to regional industry and tourism. 17
- 老公消失我担上位 (Laogong Xiaoshi Wo Dan Shangwei): the urban sweet-and-sharp short drama went live on Hongguo at 12:05 a.m. on July 31 with more than 1.56 million reservations. Its source does not state an episode count; the hook is a fake-death test, a funeral proposal, and a woman moving from dependence to control. 18
- 爱在烟花绽放时 (Ai Zai Yanhua Zhanfang Shi): this Hongguo launch uses Pingxiang's fireworks-making heritage as the setting for a woman's inheritance, craft innovation, and business growth. The launch notice does not disclose an episode count, so I leave that field open rather than guess. 19
- 风情东南亚之换你上场 (Fengqing Dongnanya zhi Huan Ni Shangchang): a Red Fruit youth comedy scheduled for July 30 at 9:00 p.m. follows an accidental body swap between two arts workers and folds Nanning's landmarks and China–ASEAN cultural exchange into the story. The notice does not disclose an episode count or a comparable heat value. 20
Three patterns in the data
- AI/manhua dominance is a library effect. Eight of ten rows are AI/manhua, and most are already in later seasons: S7, S2, S4, S9, S1, S3, S2, and S1. The winning unit is not merely an AI image style; it is a repeatable release machine with a back catalog and a next episode ready.
- Live action is losing the merged-board count but winning the cross-platform argument. Tiger Mom and Jianran are the only live-action entries, yet both receive a stronger separate read in the live-action-only checkpoint; Jianran also has a clearly reported Douyin conversion milestone. That does not overturn the merged ranking, but it prevents the chart from being read as proof that live action has stopped traveling.
- Franchises now occupy contiguous territory. Suyi Chuanshu owns Nos. 8–10, while the two Jianzong seasons sit at Nos. 2 and 7. The chart is rewarding worlds that can be revisited, with genre variation inside the same machine: cultivation, farming, family warmth, and urban rebirth all arrive as serial packages.
As of 8:00 a.m. Shanghai time on August 1, this is a July 29 merged-board benchmark with July 30–31 launch and cross-platform evidence layered on top. Raw heat displays are preserved; the July 30 live-action-only values are not spliced into the merged ranking; and title or episode-count conflicts remain labeled instead of being silently normalized. 1
