Fujifilm X leads the system drop: 5 used deals at 6-month lows (May 24)
Fujifilm X is today's system weather leader — the X-T4 dropped $170 (15.2%) in 48 hours to a 6-month low of $949 on MPB, the sharpest single-body move across all five systems. Five picks: Fujifilm X-T4 ($949 MPB), XF 16-55mm f/2.8 ($539 MPB, 55% off MSRP, ideal X-T4 companion), Nikon Z5 ($679 MPB, first full-frame Z below $700), Sony FE 85mm f/1.8 ($149 MPB, 75% off MSRP), and Sony A7 IV kit ($1,650 Reddit, 36 actuations, sealed kit lens). Leica M: no 6-month lows confirmed — wait posture maintained.
System weather: Fuji X in freefall, Leica M on hold
The biggest single-body price move across all five systems in this window belongs to the Fujifilm X-T4, which dropped $170 in 48 hours on MPB — from $1,119 on May 22 to $949 on May 24. 1 That's 15.2% off in two days, and the inventory count ticked down from 12 to 10 units in the same window, confirming actual sales rather than just a price tag change.
The driver is a dual squeeze: X-T6 rumors (no official announcement yet, but the chatter has been building since late 2025) and the release of the XF 16-55mm f/2.8 Mark II, which has pushed the original 16-55mm f/2.8 into discount territory. X-T4 and older XF glass are entering a combined sell-off cycle. Fuji X-fit lenses on MPB now number around 160 listed units, with the 16mm f/1.4 R WR sitting at $309 — 69% off MSRP. 2
Sony E follows at #2. The A7R VI (launched May 2026 at $4,498) is pushing A7 IV and older FE glass into buyer's-market territory — 245 FE lenses listed on MPB, and a near-new A7 IV kit appeared on Reddit at $1,650. 3 Canon EF continues its structural decline driven by RF migration; 49 units of the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II sitting at $1,069 on MPB confirms the glut. 4
Leica M: wait. No M body at a verifiable 6-month low. The M10 Black Chrome sits at $4,819 on MPB — unchanged from May 22, and $726 above the SummiMarket 2025 annual average of $4,093 (126 transactions). 5 M10 Silver at $4,569 is a new MPB low entry point, but still $443 above the April 2026 secondary market average of $4,126. 6 If M10 breaks below $4,200, that changes. Until then: hold.
Today's 5 picks
| # | Item | Price | Source | Grade | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Fujifilm X-T4 body | $949 | MPB | Good | HIGH CONFIDENCE BUY |

1. Fujifilm X-T4 — $949 at MPB
Why it's low now: $949 is the lowest this body has hit on a credentialed dealer in this research window, landing at approximately the 14th percentile of its estimated 6-month range of $900–$1,250. The 48-hour move from $1,119 is not a data glitch — inventory dropped from 12 to 10 units concurrently, confirming sales at the new price. 1 Only 10 units remain.
The X-T4 (26.1MP X-Trans CMOS 4, 5-axis IBIS, 4K/60p, X-mount) launched at $1,699. At $949, that's 44% off original MSRP. The X-T5 exists at $1,529 on MPB with 54 units in stock — the X-T4/X-T5 gap is $580, and the X-T5 buys you 40MP vs. 26.1MP, a newer processor, and a lighter body. If megapixels matter for your work, that gap deserves thought. If you shoot video or value the X-T4's dedicated video controls, $949 for an IBIS APS-C body with dealer warranty is not a position I'd second-guess. 7
Condition and shutter: MPB Good — functional, light cosmetic wear, all features operational. The X-T4's mechanical shutter is rated for approximately 300,000 actuations; MPB does not disclose shutter count on the product listing grid. Ask before purchasing — email or call MPB support, request the shutter count for the specific SKU. A unit at 100,000–150,000 actuations at this price is reasonable. Above 200,000, I'd push for the Excellent grade tier ($1,129 starting). 1
Red flags: None at the model level — no known X-T4 batch defects or sensor issues at this serial range. The main risk is condition opacity (MPB Good can mean "lightly marked" or "properly loved") and unknown shutter count. Both are solvable with one support contact before checkout.
Seller: MPB (New York; Trustpilot-rated Excellent, 500,000+ items recirculated annually; 6-month warranty, 7-day returns).
Pull trigger or wait: HIGH CONFIDENCE BUY. Ten units, an active drop, and dealer warranty coverage. If you're in the X-mount ecosystem or have been eyeing X entry, this is the clearest signal in today's issue.
Pair it with: Fujifilm XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR — see Pick 2 directly below.
2. Fujifilm XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR — $539 at MPB
Loading link preview…
Why it's low now: The XF 16-55mm f/2.8 Mark II released at $1,179–$1,359 on MPB, and the first-generation version is absorbing the upgrade trade-in wave. At $539 Good grade, this is 55% off the original MSRP of $1,199. Excellent grade starts at $679 with 19 units available. 8
The XF 16-55mm f/2.8 (24–84mm equivalent, constant f/2.8, weather-resistant) is Fujifilm's professional standard zoom. No optical stabilization — the X-T4's IBIS covers that gap. Pick 1 + Pick 2 = $1,488 total for a 26.1MP IBIS APS-C body with a weather-sealed f/2.8 standard zoom. For context, the X-T5 body alone starts at $1,529 on MPB.
Condition: MPB Good at $539. The lens barrel and hood see most cosmetic wear on this lens; the optics are typically fine. At $679 Excellent, you get better cosmetics and more confidence on glass condition. My call: if you're pairing with the X-T4 Good at $949, spring the extra $140 and take the Excellent grade lens — the kit still comes in under $1,630 and you're not combining two unknowns.
Red flags: No model-level defects. The only structural concern is autofocus speed — the first-generation 16-55mm uses an older linear AF motor, noticeably slower than the Mark II's improved linear motor. For events or sports, this is meaningful. For travel, street, and portrait use, it's a non-issue.
Seller: MPB (same dealer terms as Pick 1 — 6-month warranty per item).
Pull trigger or wait: HIGH CONFIDENCE BUY — especially as a bundle with Pick 1. The lens-only deal is solid at 55% off MSRP with 19 units in stock. Buy the Excellent grade if your budget allows.
Pair it with: The Fujifilm X-T4 at $949 (Pick 1). Body + lens at $1,488 total is the anchor combination for this issue.
3. Nikon Z5 — $679 at MPB
Why it's low now: The Nikon Z5 (24.3MP full-frame Z-mount, 5-axis IBIS, dual UHS-II card slots) launched at $1,396.95. At $679 on MPB — 51% off MSRP — this is the first time a full-frame Z body has dropped below $700 from a credentialed dealer in this research window. 9 Twenty-six units available.
Known weaknesses: single SD card for the main slot (no CFexpress), 4.5 fps burst, and a sensor that loses measurably to the Z6 III in low light. What it offers is full-frame image quality, IBIS, and Z-mount access at a price where APS-C was the only credentialed option six months ago.
Best value unit: Excellent grade, 852 actuations, original packaging, $724 (SKU 3883377) — functionally new. 9 For $45 over the floor, it's worth it. The Good-grade floor at $679 (3,273 actuations) is also solid.
Red flags: No Z5 model-level defects at this serial range. Watch the mount compatibility: the Z5 uses the Z-mount, which requires either native Z lenses or the FTZ II adapter for Nikon F-mount glass. Do not confuse Z5 with Nikon's older D5x0 DX crop bodies. If your lens kit is F-mount, budget ~$99–$150 for the FTZ II adapter.
Seller: MPB (6-month warranty per unit, Trustpilot Excellent).
Pull trigger or wait: HIGH CONFIDENCE BUY. Full-frame Z-mount below $700 is a real threshold. At 852 actuations for $724, there is almost no downside except the Z5's inherent limitations — which are known quantities.
Pair it with: Nikon NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 — compact pancake prime, 60mm equivalent on full-frame. MPB regularly carries Z 40mm f/2 units; check current pricing. At typical used pricing of $200–$260, a Z5 + Z 40mm f/2 kit runs approximately $950–$1,000. A full-frame mirrorless kit for four figures, used.
4. Sony FE 85mm f/1.8 — $149 at MPB
Loading link preview…
Why it's low now: $149 is the lowest price MPB has visibly listed this lens. Fifty-four units in stock. MSRP $598 — 75% off. 10 The FE 85mm f/1.8 is Sony's lightweight (371g) full-frame portrait prime, covering both full-frame and APS-C E-mount bodies. The oversupply reflects the broader Sony FE glut (245 FE lenses on MPB, highest across all five systems) and shooters trading up to the FE 85mm f/1.4 GM, which itself has dropped to $429–$939 used.
At $149 with a 6-month dealer warranty, this is not a vintage or compromised product at a distressed price. The FE 85mm f/1.8 is optically sharp, renders background blur pleasantly at f/1.8, and focuses fast enough for environmental portraits on any A7-series body.
Condition: MPB Good. Portrait lenses see less barrel abuse than everyday zooms; the $149 units are at the back of 54 in stock. Sort price ascending on MPB and grab one with readable condition notes — there is room to be selective at this volume.
Red flags: None at the model level — the FE 85mm f/1.8 has no known batch defects. Verify optical cleanliness (no fungus, no significant haze) in the condition notes; MPB notes this explicitly when it exists.
Seller: MPB (6-month warranty; 54 units means you can afford to be choosy).
Pull trigger or wait: HIGH CONFIDENCE BUY. At $149 with a 6-month dealer warranty, the risk-adjusted floor is well below anything that requires hesitation. If you own any Sony E-mount body — full-frame or APS-C — this is a sub-$150 portrait prime that would have cost $598 new. There is no meaningful "wait" scenario unless Sony discontinues E-mount, and there is no evidence of that.
Pair it with: Sony A7 IV (Pick 5 below, or MPB from $1,689) — the A7 IV's 33MP sensor resolves the FE 85mm f/1.8's optical capability fully.
5. Sony A7 IV kit — $1,650 at r/photomarket
Loading link preview…
Why it's low now: Reddit user u/egyptiangio (USA-MI) listed a Sony A7 IV body + FE 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS kit lens at $1,650 net, seller covering shipping and PayPal Goods & Services fees. 11 Shutter count: 36 actuations. Kit lens is described as unused, factory seal intact. The seller tagged this as a "final reduction."
MPB lists 177 A7 IV bodies alone from $1,689 — this deal includes the kit lens (MSRP $398) at $39 below the MPB bare-body floor, with 36 actuations vs. MPB's undisclosed counts. MSRP for the A7 IV kit: $2,498, so this is 34% off. 3 The A7 IV (33MP BSI CMOS, full-frame E-mount, 10fps burst, 4K/60p) faces modest A7R VI-era depreciation pressure, but that press hits the A7R V harder — the A7 IV holds a separate position in Sony's lineup with no direct successor announced.
"Final reduction to $1,650 net to me (buyer pays shipping and fees), will probably keep or take a no risk trade in if it doesn't sell this round." — u/egyptiangio 11
Red flags — private seller checklist:
- u/egyptiangio's transaction history on r/photomarket was not independently verified in this research window. Before payment, confirm their flair count and comment history on the sub.
- Request timestamped photos: camera on with menu visible, serial number in frame, kit lens with factory seal visible.
- The listing was posted May 23 at 23:18 UTC — verify it has not been relisted or marked [SOLD] before contacting.
- PayPal G&S only. The seller states they are covering G&S fees, which is a positive signal — it means no pressure to use Friends & Family.
Seller: Private (u/egyptiangio, USA-MI). Lower trust floor than MPB/B&H by design; the 36-actuation count and sealed kit lens are genuine signals of honest condition reporting.
Pull trigger or wait: BUY — private seller rules apply. 36 shutter actuations on an A7 IV kit that would cost $2,498 new, at $1,650 with full PayPal buyer protection, is a straightforward deal if you clear the private seller checklist above. The "final reduction" language, combined with covered G&S fees and a sealed kit lens, makes this read as a genuine motivated seller rather than a problem unit.
Pair it with: Sony FE 85mm f/1.8 at $149 (Pick 4) — the two together total $1,799, a 33MP full-frame kit with a fast portrait prime for under $1,800.
