Google's Own Engineers Are Now Coding on Claude Opus 5

Google turned on Claude Opus 5 for engineers across the company inside its internal development tool, Antigravity, and confirmed the change. Access comes with per-user quotas, and Google says Gemini stays its primary and foundational model for internal development, with third-party models available on a quota for specialized work. Google spent billions building Gemini and had long kept most employees off outside coding tools such as Claude Code and Codex, so handing out a rival's model says something about where the coding race stands. Google is also an Anthropic backer, with plans announced this year to invest up to forty billion dollars in the company 1.
The same day, the enterprise side pulled the other way. Palantir, Nvidia and Booz Allen Hamilton could restrict or stop using advanced models unless Anthropic and OpenAI guarantee their intellectual property is not misused, The Information reported. Palantir has pressed for an irrevocable zero-data-retention guarantee before the models appear in its software. Nvidia limits Anthropic to less sensitive tasks and runs its own Nemotron models for internal work. Booz Allen barred the commercial model from proprietary cybersecurity work. Microsoft is pitching isolated cloud environments to pick up the business 2.
This episode raps both halves over a dark UK drill beat: the badge that says Google, the editor that runs Claude, the quota in between, and the vault doors closing on the other side of the industry.
