BCSC places temporary restrictions on adviser and two companies

The B.C. Securities Commission says its executive director has imposed a temporary order against Everything Financial Group, Everything Financial Consultants Inc., Peter Cishecki and Shannon Knapp. BCSC staff say they obtained evidence indicating that the companies and Cishecki sold debt securities and used other investors' money to make principal and interest payments, while Knapp contributed to the conduct. The regulator says the conduct may violate B.C.'s Securities Act. Those are regulatory allegations and stated evidence, not a criminal conviction or final merits decision. 1

The order prohibits trading or purchasing securities issued by the two companies and bars the companies, Cishecki and Knapp from promotional activity on their behalf. It remains in effect until July 30, 2026, when the executive director may seek an extension from a Commission panel. 1

Pemberton wildfire crews work through the night

A report published shortly before 1 a.m. PDT said crews worked through the night on the wind-whipped Signal Hill wildfire near Pemberton, with evacuation orders holding. B.C. Wildfire Service official Emily Fardad said crews had made progress, the report said. 2

The Village of Pemberton's latest listed community update, issued at 5:45 p.m. PDT on July 16, said an evacuation order remained for One Mile Lake Park at 7362 Highway 99 to provide safe working space for wildfire-response crews. 3

U.S. strikes enter a sixth night as Iran conflict hits shipping

The BBC reported just before this briefing that the United States had launched a wave of strikes against Iran for a sixth consecutive night. U.S. Central Command said the attacks hit dozens of Iranian military targets and that U.S. forces had boarded a vessel as part of a blockade of Iranian ports. BBC Verify confirmed damage to one bridge west of Bandar Abbas. Iranian state media and provincial authorities reported damage to other civilian infrastructure and seven deaths in Hormozgan province; those additional claims were not independently confirmed in the report. 4

Commercial traffic through the Strait of Hormuz is also thinning. Reuters reported that only three commodity vessels crossed on Thursday, down from 11 on Wednesday and a pre-conflict daily average of 125. No very large crude carrier or liquefied natural gas tanker crossed for a second consecutive day, according to shipping data cited by Reuters. 5
