Roblox morning briefing — October 21, 2026: a Bungie co-founder opens an 18+ shooter on Roblox, and The Hollow starts tomorrow at 20:00
A Bungie co-founder's studio opens an 18+ extraction shooter on Roblox behind an age gate, Roblox skins the app crimson for The Hollow a night before it opens, and a cat-fighting game from 5 October is already past 33 million visits.
Look North World is Alex Seropian's studio. Seropian co-founded Bungie, stayed through the Microsoft acquisition, and headed the team that shipped the first Halo. Last night his studio opened its first Roblox game.
Drifters went live in early access at 19:01 CEST. Roblox's own account announced it in one line: "Drifters is coming soon. join the community now to playtest. sweet dreams 😈". 1
Open that game's page while signed out and Roblox returns a blank screen reading "Content not accessible". 2
This edition covers the 24 hours to 08:00 CEST on Wednesday 21 October.
A Bungie co-founder has opened an 18+ extraction shooter on Roblox
Drifters is a player-versus-player extraction shooter set in Paleview, a town that vanished into a dreamscape after a government experiment went wrong. Players work for the contractor sent in to keep the nightmares from escaping back. 3
A squad holds four players, a match holds three squads, so twelve people share a deployment. A run lasts about ten minutes and pays out in the DNA of whatever you kill. 3
The map covers four kilometres by one and a half. Four districts are open at early access and twelve have been designed. About fifteen weapons unlock, the first five of them skinnable, and cosmetics sell for Robux. 3
Five people built it in about five months. Seropian talked to Roblox's Jim Greer in February, joined the platform's incubator, and pitched an extraction shooter he says was inspired by ARC Raiders. 3
Roblox first showed Drifters in June, among six games it presented as 18+. 4
The listing is called DRIFTERS - Early Access. It was created on 20 August and last updated at 05:37 this morning. 5
That listing carries the route in. It tells players to join the community Drifters Official to play before the beta launch, and warns that profiles reset before the next phase. The community held 521 members this morning, and the listing's public visit counter reads 595. 56
The page's own refusal keeps those numbers small in public. Signed out, Roblox will not serve the listing at all, so how many people are inside Drifters right now sits behind a sign-in.
Roblox pushed the launch across its accounts. Its newsroom account linked the GamesBeat story an hour after it appeared, and Roblox Creators posted a making-of video with Look North World's chief technology officer at 01:18 this morning. 78
Shorts angle: open on the announcement, cut to the blank screen, then explain the gap between them. The clip turns on a question the audience can settle in ten seconds on their own phone.
The Hollow starts tomorrow, and DOORS opens its doors at 20:00
Roblox's Halloween event opens on Thursday 22 October across nine games. 9
Those nine are DOORS, Demonology, Animal Hospital, Scary Shawarma Kiosk, Warden, Piggy, Dandy's World, 99 Nights in the Forest and The Mimic. 10
DOORS' listing carries a card titled THE CANDY VAULT, subtitled "YOU'RE INVITED!", with its date pill reading Thu, Oct 22, 6:00 PM. That is 20:00 here. 11
The button under that card reads Notify Me. The two cards beside it, THE ARCHIVES UPDATE and ACCESS GRANTED, both read Join Event, which marks the difference between a card you can walk into and one you are waiting on. 11
The event's other dated cards come later in the week. Dandy's World's next one, "Only Two Weeks Left!", lands Friday 23 October at 21:00, and Animal Hospital's Halloween Part 2 on Tuesday 27 October at 20:00. 1213
Roblox has started dressing the app for it as well. A theme for Plus subscribers went out overnight, turning the interface crimson with a large claw behind it. 1415
Creators inside the event started posting about it yesterday, several of them tagging their announcements #RobloxPartner. 16
These are this morning's live counts for the games in the event that publish one:
- 99 Nights in the Forest — 109,635 players. 17
- Dandy's World — 43,684 players. 17
- Animal Hospital — 18,056 players. 17
- DOORS — 13,618 players. 17
- Piggy — 5,888 players, and 14.4 billion visits since it opened in January 2020. 18
- Demonology — 2,295 players. 18
- The Mimic — 1,725 players. 18
What an opening does to those numbers is on Saturday's record. Dress To Impress carried 46,704 players before its Halloween update opened at 17:00 on 17 October. The next morning it read 113,229. Fisch went from 75,349 to 120,749 over the same night, and Animal Hospital from 30,387 to 48,587. 19
Shorts angle: film each of the nine lobbies today while they are half empty, then film the same lobby tomorrow night after 20:00. One before-and-after per game gives you nine clips out of one event.
A cat-fighting game published two weeks ago is past 33 million visits
Cat Battles was created on 5 October by Cute Malt Games. It has 33,993,449 visits, 78,919 favourites and 21,296 players this morning. 20
The game is a last-cat-standing brawl. You punch, grab and throw other players out of a ring, with eight abilities including a hairball and a pounce, and skins collected as fur patterns. 21
This morning it sits third on Roblox's Up-and-Coming chart and sixth on Top Trending. 22
It arrived in a stretch of new releases that reached a million visits fast. Realistic Phone Drop Test, published on 4 October, is at 4,232,524. Bike Universe, from 27 September, is at 5,182,025 and holds 16,483 players. 20
Fix My Phone! has 1,748,098 visits and holds 8,748 players right now. Make Rugs!, with 2,174,152 visits, holds 6,342. 20
Shorts angle: the hook is the number, and the picture behind it is a cat in a jersey punching another cat over lava. Show the visit counter first, then the silliest ability in the game, then the counter again.
Top Fall Games to Watch
Every date and time below was read this morning of 21 October from the game's own Roblox listing. Times are Central European, CEST until 25 October and CET after.
- The Hollow — opens Thursday 22 October across nine games, with DOORS' THE CANDY VAULT opening at 20:00. 911 Pitch: record the empty lobby of each game today, then the same shot tomorrow night, and let the crowd do the talking.
- Tower Defense Simulator — Solar Requiem: Night II is live on version 2.15.0, and Night III opens Friday 23 October at 18:00. Its listing also carries a code, 2MILLION, for a free skin. 24 Pitch: film the final wave of Night II today, so Friday's viewers arrive knowing what Night III has to beat.
- Adopt Me! — Halloween Week 3 is live. Week 4 opens Friday 23 October at 17:05, and an Admin Abuse round follows on Saturday 24 October at 18:00. 25 Pitch: the admin round hands out freebies, so film what a new player can walk away with in ten minutes.
- Dandy's World — the Halloween event is live, and its next dated card, "Only Two Weeks Left!", lands Friday 23 October at 21:00. 12 Pitch: with a closing date posted, film the floors deepest in, which most players will not reach before the event shuts.
- Dress To Impress — HALLOWEEN! is live with a new styling brief. Tales of the Dark King opens Saturday 24 October at 17:00. 26 Pitch: film a winning outfit tonight, then the same brief on Saturday, and set the two runs side by side.
- Animal Hospital — Halloween! is live. Halloween Part 2 opens Tuesday 27 October at 20:00 CET. 13 Pitch: record one clean shift now as a baseline, so Part 2 lands as a visible change to a place the audience already knows.

Roblox's own accounts were quiet from Friday until the Drifters launch last night. The newsroom site still carries the Brazil tournament announcement as its newest item. 28
Roblox's announcements board has published nothing since Monday evening's two posts, on homepage thumbnails and in-game image publishing. 29
The TextChatService takedown thread stands at 486 posts and 9,612 views. 30
Roblox's status page reports every system operational. The newest incident on it is still the site issue of 5 October. 31
Today's lead rests on Roblox's own announcement and on a GamesBeat interview with the studio behind the game. The rest comes from the listings, charts and counts Roblox publishes for itself.
