The boxer crab carries one small sea anemone in each claw, using their stinging tentacles as protection. In a lab test, removing one anemone made 17 of 22 crabs tear the remaining one in half; each piece regenerated into an anemone. The tearing was observed in the lab, but how wild crabs first get their anemones is still unknown. 1
