Xiaomi's XRING O3 is a phone chip. The bigger story is the silicon program around it.
On August 24, 2026, Xiaomi unveiled the O3 alongside the O100 AI accelerator and the D100 intelligent-driving chip. The three lanes give Xiaomi places to reuse design knowledge across phones, local AI and cars. 1
The O3 puts the strategy into a product Xiaomi plans to ship. Reuters reports TSMC will manufacture the 3nm chip, and Xiaomi says the O3 has entered mass production. Xiaomi's presentation figures include a 10-core CPU, a 16-core GPU and claimed gains in graphics performance. 2
The cost arrives earlier than the payoff. Xiaomi has said it plans to invest at least ¥50 billion over a decade. Reuters reports more than ¥20 billion has gone into Xring development so far, with a semiconductor design unit of more than 3,000 people. 1
Qualcomm and MediaTek remain in Xiaomi's lineup. XRING is a second path: more control over selected products, more room to tune the software stack, and more leverage in supplier negotiations. 3
