Ellen Degeneres (Soul Cover)
Lil B's Ellen Degeneres — one of the "Look Like" tracks from his Myspace-era run — is rebuilt here as a slow Southern soul ballad: Hammond organ, warm electric piano, upright bass, and a gospel choir that answers the hook like a congregation. 1 The lead voice stays soft, breathy, and entirely sincere, so "I feel like Ellen" lands less like a punchline than like something a man needed to get off his chest.
Every line is the released song's own — the Myspace counts, the iced-out ring, the crowd shouting that his show costs 30 Gs. The choir takes the "swag!" and the "woo!" for itself, and the band never lets on that any of it is funny.
Listen on a slow Sunday morning, or whenever a boast deserves to be sung like a testimony.
