AFA Corp Reorg Memo: Scaloni Confirms 26-Position Structure for Q3 2026 Campaign
Dear All,
Following an exhaustive talent review process — including fitness evaluations, form assessments, and one very tense hamstring MRI — I am pleased to confirm the finalized organizational chart for AFA Corp's 2026 North America Strategic Initiative (internal codename: Project WC2026). Effective immediately, the following 26 positions have been filled.
Please update your org charts accordingly. HR has been notified.
Executive Leadership
Position: Executive Chairman & Chief Creative Officer
Incumbent: L. Messi (Inter Miami CF — on temporary secondment to AFA Corp HQ)
After considerable deliberation — and a full medical workup following a reported hamstring strain and muscle fatigue that briefly endangered his onboarding — our Founder returns for a sixth consecutive strategic deployment. Messi, who turns 39 in June, was personally confirmed by the CEO as "irreplaceable to our organizational identity." His file was the last cleared by the medical team. This is expected to be his final term.1

The charter flight from Buenos Aires to Kansas City was designated Flight 1978 — an internal reference to AFA Corp's founding triumph — and the aircraft livery displayed the No. 10 jersey alongside three gold stars.
Goalkeeper Division (3 headcount)
| Role | Incumbent | Home Office |
|---|---|---|
| VP, Shot-Stopping Operations | E. Martínez ("Dibu") | Aston Villa |
| Deputy Goalkeeper, First Reserve | G. Rulli | Marseille |
| Deputy Goalkeeper, Second Reserve | J. Musso | Strasbourg |
Defensive Operations (8 headcount)
The back line retains most of its 2022 Championship-era structure. No surprise promotions or surprise eliminations here — this is a known quantity.2
| Role | Incumbent | Home Office |
|---|---|---|
| Right Lateral Operations | G. Montiel | Sevilla |
| Right Lateral Operations (Backup) | N. Molina | Atlético Madrid |
| Central Defense, Co-Lead | C. Romero ("Cuti") | Tottenham Hotspur |

| Central Defense, Associate | L. Balerdi | Marseille |
| Left Lateral Operations | N. Tagliafico | Lyon |
| Left Lateral Operations (Backup) | F. Medina | Lens |
Midfield & Process Excellence (7 headcount)
This division represents AFA Corp's strategic engine. The Engine Room team — Fernández, Mac Allister, De Paul — carries forward its successful 2022 configuration with targeted reinforcements.2
| Role | Incumbent | Home Office |
|---|---|---|
| VP, Strategic Midfield Operations | R. De Paul | Atlético Madrid |

Note: V. Barco represents the youngest headcount in this division and has been placed on an accelerated development track.
Forward Division & Revenue Generation (8 headcount)
The Forward Division has been significantly restructured following the voluntary separation of several senior contributors and the strategic addition of new creative talent.
| Role | Incumbent | Home Office |
|---|---|---|

| Junior Analyst, North American Markets | N. Paz | Como |
Personnel Changes & Voluntary Separations
We acknowledge the following transitions, effective this quarter:
Ángel Di María — After 18 years of distinguished service and four consecutive World Cup campaigns, Di María has elected voluntary separation. His contributions to AFA Corp's 2021 and 2022 championship cycles are immeasurable and will be formally recognized at the annual gala. He is currently redeployed at Rosario Central.3
Paulo Dybala — Contract not renewed. Di María himself acknowledged Dybala has "possibilities," but the current headcount structure does not accommodate his profile at this time.3
Marcos Senesi — Bournemouth's stand-out performer during the 2025-26 Premier League season. His application was reviewed and declined. The decision was noted by many internal stakeholders as surprising.3
Emiliano Buendía — Europa League finalist with Aston Villa; not selected. Midfield division deemed sufficiently resourced.3
On the Matter of Franco Mastantuono
HR has received multiple inquiries regarding F. Mastantuono (Real Madrid, age 18), who was widely expected to join this intake following his call-up to AFA Corp's extended evaluation pool in March.
After review, leadership has determined that his onboarding has been deferred to a future cycle. His first full season at Real Madrid produced 3 goals and included a red card, and his role in the qualification pipeline remained peripheral. He remains on the long-list for Q1 2030 intake.
Per our standard policy: he is 18. He will be fine.4

A Note from the CEO
"We are going to Kansas City as defending champions. Seventeen members of this team were in Qatar in 2022. We have our Founder back. This is not a transition year. This is a continuation."
— L. Scaloni, Chief Executive Officer, AFA Corp
