The mechanism starts with the unit being measured. An app has a position inside a country, device, chart and category. Toplify's App Store listing covers iPhone and Mac charts, Top Free and Top Paid charts, ranking history, country coverage, ranking score, ratings and review counts. 2

Toplify then compares observations over time. A current rank shows placement in one chart; a history shows movement; an alert points to a new ranking or a significant jump. The developer still needs other measurements to explain downloads or revenue. A chart position is a signal about momentum, not a complete business report.
