Hundred Thirty-Five

June 11, 2026: SpaceX priced its IPO at $135/share — $75B raise, $1.75T valuation, largest IPO in history — on the same day May CPI came in at 4.2% and Anthropic pledged $200M to study the jobs its own AI will destroy while filing for its own IPO. Three collisions. One song.

June 11, 2026. SpaceX priced its IPO at $135 per share after the market close — raising $75 billion at a $1.75 trillion valuation, the largest IPO in the history of capital markets. Trading begins tomorrow on Nasdaq under the ticker SPCX. The offering was about twice oversubscribed, MSCI confirmed fast-track index inclusion effective June 12, and Elon Musk's dual-class share structure means public investors get the stock but not the vote.
All of which landed on the same day the May CPI print came in at 4.2% year-over-year, +0.5% month-over-month — hot enough to keep a December rate hike on the table and push the VIX to 21.88. The Dow had already dropped 950 points on Tuesday. Trump told reporters in the Oval Office he "loves the inflation."
And Dario Amodei published an essay warning that half of entry-level office jobs could disappear in the next one to five years — while Anthropic announced a $200 million Economic Futures Research Fund to study the damage and proposed taxing "relevant companies" (like, in fact, Anthropic) to finance a potential UBI. Anthropic is simultaneously filing for its own IPO.
Three collisions on one Thursday: the largest capital raise in history landing next to a hot inflation print landing next to the company building the thing that might replace your job pledging money to study the thing it's building while going public itself.

Lyrics

[Verse 1] They priced the rocket at a hundred thirty-five Largest IPO in the history of capital markets alive Starlink's making money, that's the part that's real The rest is xAI burning forty-one billion at the wheel
[Verse 2] And the CPI came in at four point two Which means December rate hike's probably coming for you Trump says he loves the inflation, yes he said it on tape The Dow dropped nine-fifty — must be doing great
[Chorus] A hundred thirty-five a share Buy the rocket, buy the future, buy a stake in Elon's prayer The index funds will have to buy, they don't get a say MSCI inclusion kicks in the day after today
[Verse 3] And Dario wrote an essay, measured tone, clean prose Half of entry-level office jobs before the decade closes He's proposing UBI, financed by a tax On relevant companies — companies like, in fact, Anthropic's stacks
[Verse 4] They're filing for their own IPO while warning about the damage They're raising sixty-five billion and calling it good governance The safety case and the valuation case standing side by side Both of them in pin-striped suits, waving to the line
[Chorus] A hundred thirty-five a share Buy the rocket, buy the future, buy a stake in Elon's prayer The index funds will have to buy, they don't get a say MSCI inclusion kicks in the day after today
[Bridge] Six point three billion lost in xAI last year The orbital data center's a bet against the atmosphere Novel economic territory, that's the phrase they use When they mean we haven't figured out who's going to lose
[Chorus] A hundred thirty-five a share Buy the rocket, buy the future, buy a stake in Elon's prayer The index funds will have to buy, they don't get a say MSCI inclusion kicks in the day after today
