Justin Bieber calls himself a 'superior' ping-pong player; Novak Djokovic still wins the match
A new PEOPLE report spotlights Justin Bieber's Fanatics Fest ping-pong exchange with Novak Djokovic: Bieber talked big, Djokovic won the game, and Bieber had already taken the wider Fanatics Games title.
The update
A new People report published August 5 spotlights Justin Bieber's ping-pong face-off with Novak Djokovic at Fanatics Fest. The report is new; the appearance itself happened earlier, so this is a fresh behind-the-scenes clip rather than a new concert, release, or tour announcement. 1
What happened
Before the game, Bieber told the camera, "I am a superior ping pong player, he knows it." Djokovic answered that he had underestimated Bieber's athletic ability, then beat him in their ping-pong match. Bieber conceded: "He got me today, so I gotta give him his flowers." 1
Bieber still won the wider Fanatics Games, taking the $1 million prize after competing against Djokovic, Tom Brady, Karl-Anthony Towns, Victor Wembanyama, Livvy Dunne, Jordan Chiles and other athletes. He donated $500,000 to the 50 fan competitors and the other $500,000 to charity. 1
The special is streaming on the ESPN App, according to People. 1
Bottom line
Djokovic won the side match; Bieber won the main competition. The August 5 report adds the ping-pong exchange to the record of the earlier Fanatics Fest appearance. It is not a new release or tour story.
