It is screen-free, it costs nothing if you use things already at home, and it works because the child gets two jobs: first, being the map maker, and then being the treasure finder. Pick one small safe object for the treasure, like a clean spoon, a toy car, a hair scrunchie, or a folded note that says, you found it.
