Alibaba's Wan3.0 turns work files into 30-second videos

Alibaba rolled out Wan3.0 on Aug. 24, 2026. The video model can generate clips up to 30 seconds and accept documents, spreadsheets, presentation slides and webpages as source material. TechNode reports that Alibaba Cloud also described improvements in instruction following, consistency across shots and audio quality. 1

Reuters placed the launch alongside Alibaba's roughly $10.2bn share placement, with the proceeds directed toward rising AI spending. Selected platforms are offering a temporary 30% discount on Wan3.0 API pricing from Aug. 24 through Sept. 23. 2

The headline change is workflow: a deck, spreadsheet or webpage can become the starting point for a video. The open question is how faithfully each source becomes a useful finished story.
