October 25 LEGO radar: a 2011 Ninjago fortress leads twelve retired sets, and it is the only one under market
Twelve retired LEGO sets went up for sale on Mercari this week, and a 2011 Garmadon's Dark Fortress at $238.28 landed is the only one under its six-month average; the other eleven ask 6.1% to 105.5% over market.
Twelve out-of-production LEGO sets went up for sale on Mercari between October 18 and October 25, 2026, 10:00 GMT-5, and one of them asks less than its set has been selling for.
That one is a 2011 Ninjago fortress — the oldest retirement on the board — at $238.28 landed against a $245.55 used average. 12
The other eleven ask more. The mildest is a sealed Invisible Hand at 6.1% over its sealed average. The worst is a Gift-with-Purchase castle whose shipping costs more than the set itself is worth.
Ten of the twelve retired within the last three years. The two older ones are the 2011 fortress and a 2014 Castle set, and both are used builds rather than sealed boxes.
Landed is the asking price plus shipping plus Mercari's buyer-protection fee. That total is what leaves a buyer's account, and it is the figure every gap is measured from.
Reference is brick'em's six-month average of BrickLink completed sales for the set in the condition it is offered in. A sealed box is held to the sealed average, a used build to the used one.
Gap puts the landed total against that reference, so a negative number is a set priced under market.
Scarcity here is read from retirement date, set format, and how much of each set's value sits in its minifigures. BrickLink's live seller-supply count stayed out of reach: its catalogue page now renders a set's own facts, and its items-for-sale panel still loads empty.
Where two neighbouring listings sit within five points of each other, the older retirement ranks first.
Each listing earns its place on the Posted date printed on its item page. All twelve printed a date inside this window. The posting stamp carried in a listing's image address is not trustworthy on its own: a General Grievous UCS listing carried an October 23 stamp and a printed October 1 date, and left the board.

The one under market
2505 Garmadon's Dark Fortress. Ninjago ran this fortress in 519 pieces with six minifigures, released in December 2010 at $69.99 and retired at the end of 2011. 3
Fifteen years off the shelf shows in the price. Sealed copies average $608.31; used ones $245.55. 2
The six figures are $93.93 of that used average, and Samukai is $63.40 of the $93.93. One figure carries 68% of the set's figure value and a quarter of its used price.
The listing went up October 20 from Maryland at $230.00 with free shipping and $8.28 in buyer protection, $238.28 landed. 1
A second copy is worth knowing about, because it looks cheaper and is not. A seller in California posted one October 25 at $225.00, but $13.09 shipping and $8.10 in buyer protection bring it to $246.19 — $7.91 more than the Maryland lot. That one is described as 99% complete, missing some bones from Garmadon's chair and a barrel. 37
Ask the Maryland seller for Samukai out of the box, all four arms visible in one frame. Then check the two instruction booklets are in the shipment, since the description mentions neither. Ceiling: $245.
The three closest to market
75377 Invisible Hand. A December 2025 retirement, the third-newest on the board, and the only listing within ten points of its reference. LEGO released 75377 in January 2024 at $49.99 — 557 pieces, no minifigures — and retired it at the end of 2025. 4
Sealed copies average $73.22, used ones $57.25. 6 The listing went up October 21 from Connecticut at $74.99 with free shipping and $2.69 in buyer protection, $77.68 landed. 5
With no minifigures inside, every dollar of this set is plastic and print. Ask for a photograph of the two hull halves joined, and for the display stand. Ceiling: $73.
10320 Eldorado Fortress. The rarest thing a sealed buyer can act on this week, and one of the strangest price shapes on the board. LEGO released 10320 in June 2023 at $214.99: 2,509 pieces, nine minifigures, and retired it at the end of 2024. 7
Sealed copies average $231.68 and used ones $214.41 — a sealed premium of 8%. The nine figures are $46.18 of the used figure. 9
The listing went up October 24 from Connecticut at $259.99, $20.99 to ship and $10.11 in buyer protection, $291.09 landed. 8
The ship's sails are printed fabric, and creased sails are the one defect that does not photograph as a defect. Ask for them laid flat, and for the fort's printed flag. Ceiling: $232.
71741 Ninjago City Gardens. The largest build on the board by a wide margin. LEGO released 71741 in February 2021 at $349.99 with 5,685 pieces and 22 minifigures, 19 of them exclusive to the set, and retired it at the end of 2024. 10
Sealed copies average $342.44, so a sealed box here is worth less than its original retail price four years on. Used copies average $269.68, and the figures are $82.27 of that, 31%. 12
The listing went up October 22 from Indiana at $375.00 with $42.99 to ship and $15.04 in buyer protection, $433.03 landed. Shipping alone is 12.6% of the reference. 11
Ask for the golden Wu Legacy figure's bag photographed through the seals, and for the box to be double-boxed before it ships. Ceiling: $342.
The middle of the board
10278 Police Station. The newest modular retirement on the board. LEGO released 10278 on January 1, 2021 at $199.99: 2,923 pieces, five minifigures, all exclusive to the set. It retired at the end of 2023. 13
Sealed copies average $291.96, used ones $221.17, and the five figures are only $14.10 of that — 6% of the used price. 15
The listing went up October 21 from Florida at $359.99, cut from $369.99, plus $18.99 to ship and $13.64 in buyer protection: $392.62 landed. 14
With 6% of the value in figures, this set is bought for its bricks and its box. Ask what the $359.99 is based on, and whether the inner boxes are still sealed. Ceiling: $292.
76415 The Battle of Hogwarts. The most figure-dependent set on the board. LEGO released 76415 in May 2023 at $79.99, 730 pieces and six minifigures, and retired it at the end of 2024. 16
Sealed copies average $86.21 and used ones $60.24. The six figures are $40.56, which is 67% of the used average. 18
The listing went up October 25 from New York at $110.00, cut from $120.00, with free shipping and $3.96 in buyer protection: $113.96 landed. 17
Ask for Molly Weasley and Neville Longbottom named in writing and photographed together. If either is substituted, two thirds of what is being bought is gone. Ceiling: $86.
42174 Emirates Team New Zealand AC75. LEGO released 42174 in July 2024 at $119.99, 962 pieces with no minifigures, and retired it at the end of 2025. 19
Sealed copies average $98.26, well under the $119.99 it sold for new. 21 The listing went up October 22 from Connecticut at $112.99 with $10.49 to ship and $4.44 in buyer protection: $127.92 landed. 20
Two years of retail at $119.99 sets a buyer's expectation, and the sealed market has already moved below it. Ask what the ask is based on. Ceiling: $98.
40601 Majisto's Magical Workshop. A Gift with Purchase, which is the format that most often gets priced as if it were a retail set. LEGO gave 40601 away from November 18 to 26, 2023 for a minimum spend, and it retired at the end of that year: 365 pieces and two minifigures. 22
Sealed copies average $32.05, used ones $26.18. The two figures are $16.61 — 63% of the used price — and the female Dragon Knight is $12.83 of that. 24
The listing went up October 22 from Connecticut at $34.99, but $8.69 to ship and $1.57 in buyer protection take it to $45.25 landed. The shipping is 27% of the reference on its own. 23
One figure carries this set. Ask for the Dragon Knight with her flat silver helmet and armour photographed front and back. Ceiling: $32.
The four that overpay hardest
70401 Gold Getaway. The second-oldest retirement on the board, and the cheapest way to see how far a used Castle set can drift. LEGO released 70401 in May 2013 at $19.99: 199 pieces and three minifigures, retired at the end of 2014. 25
Used complete copies average $40.69; sealed ones $75.73. The three figures are $19.97, 49% of the used price. 27
The listing went up October 25 from Ohio at $55.00, $7.99 to ship and $1.98 in buyer protection: $64.97 landed. 26 The seller counted all 199 pieces against the instruction inventory, which is the right way to sell a used set and does not change the price it should fetch.
The horse's red armour headpiece is the scarce part of this set. Ask for it photographed off the horse. Ceiling: $41.
75356 Executor Super Star Destroyer. The freshest retirement on the board. LEGO released 75356 in March 2023 at $69.99, 630 pieces, no minifigures, and retired it on July 31, 2026 — four months ago. 28
Sealed copies average $60.15, already 14% under the shelf price. 30 The listing went up October 24 from Maryland at $89.99 with $10.99 to ship and $3.63 in buyer protection: $104.61 landed, 1.74 times the sealed average. 29
A set that left shelves in July has no scarcity to sell. Offer the sealed average. Ceiling: $60.
42130 BMW M 1000 RR. LEGO released 42130 on January 1, 2022 at $249.99: 1,920 pieces, no minifigures, retired July 31, 2026. 31
Sealed copies average $210.13 and used ones $130.28 — a 61% sealed premium, the largest on the board. 33 The listing went up October 25 from Minnesota at $350.00 with $22.99 to ship and $13.42 in buyer protection: $386.41 landed, 1.84 times the sealed average. 32
The whole description is the title repeated. Ask for all six faces of the box and the seals on both short ends before discussing price. Ceiling: $210.
40775 Mini Knight's Castle. A Gift with Purchase that was available for two days and has been asked for at twice its market price. LEGO gave 40775 away from November 22, 2025 for a minimum spend and retired it the next day, with 590 pieces according to BrickRanker. 34
Sealed copies average $13.95, used ones $11.00. 36 The listing went up October 22 from Connecticut at $18.99, with $8.69 to ship and $0.99 in buyer protection: $28.67 landed, just over twice the sealed average. 35
Shipping is 62% of the reference here, so the fee structure decides the deal before the price does. Buy it only in a bundle. Ceiling: $14.
One listing that did not make the table
A 1979 set went up October 25 from Georgia at $120.00, fair condition, incomplete and without a manual, $132.31 landed. The title reads "LEGO Engines Expert Builder Set #8858". 38
The number 8858 belongs to Rebel Wrecker, a 1994 Technic buggy of 121 parts that averages $76.93 used and $240.00 sealed. 39
The year in the title and the set number in the title point at different decades, and there is no way to price a set whose identity is unresolved. Ask for the instruction booklet's cover and the moulded part numbers before anything else.
What to check before you send money
These are the checks this week's twelve listings actually call for, in the order a buyer would run them.
- Name the most valuable figure and ask for it in one photograph. Samukai is $63.40 of the $93.93 figure total on 2505. On 76415 the six figures are 67% of the used average. On 40601 the Dragon Knight is $12.83 of $32.05.
- Ask for the seals square-on. Ten of the twelve are sealed lots. Both short ends, plus the bottom panel, in one frame.
- Match the printed number to the set. The 8858 listing above is the cautionary case: a wrong number in a title is either a careless seller or a wrong product.
- Count against the published piece count. 10278 is 2,923 pieces, 71741 is 5,685, 10320 is 2,509. Sellers who counted say so; the 70401 seller linked the instruction inventory they counted against.
- Ask what the "retired" label rests on. 75356 left shelves on July 31, 2026 and 42130 the same day. Neither has had time to become scarce.
- Ask for weight where the set is all parts. 42130 is 1,920 pieces with nothing inside but plastic. A box light for its piece count is worth refusing.
- Read the box condition against the photographs. The 71741 seller describes crush and tears and shows them. Where a description is silent on the box, ask for the corner that would show damage.
Ceilings, set by set
The landed number at which each set stops being a question, in the order of the table.

| 40775 Mini Knight's Castle | $14 | $28.67 |
Where these listings came from
All twelve came from Mercari, and all twelve carried a printed posting date inside the window.
The four other marketplaces named for this channel produced nothing dated again. eBay's search returned its own error page again this week. Depop's search served an unfilled shell. Vinted did render — a full catalogue of 500-plus retired LEGO results with prices and conditions — but its catalogue carries no posting date, so nothing there could be placed inside the week.
BrickLink's catalogue page now renders a set's year, weight, dimensions and part count, which it did not do in earlier weeks. Its items-for-sale panel and its price guide both load empty, so its live seller-supply counts are still missing from the scarcity read.
Searches that answered this week:
lego sealed retired, lego modular retired, lego ucs retired, lego castle retired and lego technic retired.References
