Good Good Golf published a Callaway driver ad on Aug. 21 showing Garrett Clark shoving Alexis Miestowski as she reached for a golf bag and saying, "Do not touch my new driver." Good Good removed the video and apologized on Aug. 22. Callaway later said the approval "should never have happened," while the PGA Tour criticized the video and Golf Channel postponed a planned reboot after a sponsor request.
The fallout widened on Aug. 26 when retailers pulled Good Good merchandise. Callaway ended the partnership on Aug. 27, strengthened its review process and pledged $1 million to organizations working to prevent violence against women. Good Good also left its PGA Tour title sponsorship. On Aug. 28, CEO Matt Kendrick accused Callaway of requesting and approving the ad before making Good Good "take the fall." USA TODAY reported that Kendrick also said he had not seen the ad before release and that Good Good removed the people responsible.
The public record leaves one central question contested: how much responsibility belongs to each company in the approval chain? The X posts in the images are an illustrative sample, not a poll.
