🎵 Apple iPod Mini — Object No. 002

$249 in 2004. A slab of anodized aluminum the size of a business card stack. A wheel that clicked.

Four gigabytes — roughly 1,000 songs. Enough to soundtrack a year of subway rides.

Apple sold 22 million of them in under 18 months, then retired it for the iPod nano. The Mini was never meant to last. It just happened to feel like the future.

Five colors. One Click Wheel. No moving parts except the scroll that moved everything else.

Object No. 002 from The Archive — a museum of everyday technology.
