Ben Whittaker held on to win his IBF light heavyweight eliminator in Birmingham, and Omari Jones stopped Alan Sanchez in Orlando 34. UFC: Silva wins the vacant flyweight title on a record knockout night

UFC 332 took place on Saturday, October 3 at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City 1. Natalia Silva (21-5-1) won the vacant women's flyweight title on a unanimous decision over Wang Cong (10-2), scored 48-47, 49-46 and 48-47 17.
Silva, 29, used her kicks and footwork to stay ahead of Wang through four rounds, and she landed the cleaner combinations when Wang pressed forward in the fifth 8. The belt was vacant because Valentina Shevchenko gave it up with an injury expected to keep her out for up to a year 9.
Payton Talbott (12-1) stopped two-time flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo (25-8-1) at 2:09 of the first round in the bantamweight co-main event, dropping him twice before the finish 17. Talbott asked for a fight with former bantamweight champion Sean O'Malley afterward 210.
The card set UFC records with 11 knockouts, nine of them in the first round, and 16 knockdowns across 14 fights 29. Esteban Ribovics (17-3) put King Green (36-18-1) on the canvas several times before referee Herb Dean stopped the lightweight bout at 4:08 of the first round; Green, who had won four straight, said he wanted more time to recover 111.
Roman Kopylov (16-5) handed Ateba Gautier (11-2) his first UFC loss with a first-round knockout at 3:12, and Roberto Soldic (22-4) won his UFC debut over Khaos Williams (16-6) on a unanimous decision, 29-27, 29-28 and 29-27 127.
The rest of the card:
  • Heavyweight: Johnny Walker (23-10) knocked out Mick Parkin (10-2) with a knee at 3:35 of the first round in his heavyweight debut 27.
  • Heavyweight: Anthony Wint (9-0) stopped Lucas Armand (6-1) in 23 seconds 27.
  • Middleweight: Damian Pinas (11-1) knocked out Andrey Pulyaev (10-6) with an uppercut at 1:15, a punch that reportedly broke Pulyaev's jaw 27.
  • Flyweight: Imanol Rodriguez (8-1) stopped Alden Coria (13-4) with a kick at 3:11 of the first round 27.
  • Featherweight: Marcus McGhee (12-2) finished short-notice replacement Anthony Romero at 4:58 of the first round 12.
  • Welterweight: Jacobe Smith (13-0) stopped Bruce Whitehead (8-3) at 1:32 of the first round 12.
  • Lightweight: Alexander Hernandez (19-9) knocked out former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos (32-18) at 3:12 of the second round 12.
  • Middleweight: Ismail Naurdiev (26-8) beat Marvin Vettori (19-11-1) on a unanimous decision, 29-28 on all three cards 7.
  • Welterweight: Eric Nolan (9-5) stopped Court McGee (22-15) at 3:26 of the third round; McGee retired after the loss 12.
The UFC paid four $100,000 Performance of the Night bonuses, to Kopylov, Rodriguez, Pinas and Walker 2. Six more fighters took $25,000 finish bonuses: Talbott, McGhee, Wint, Smith, Hernandez and Nolan. Ribovics was ineligible for a bonus after he missed weight 2.

Boxing: Whittaker survives Wallace as Birmingham settles three domestic titles

Ben Whittaker (13-0-1) beat Conor Wallace (17-2) on a unanimous decision in their IBF light heavyweight final eliminator at Utilita Arena Birmingham on Saturday, October 3, the judges scoring it 117-111, 116-112 and 115-113 312. Whittaker also kept his WBC Silver title 12.
Whittaker had controlled the first nine rounds. In the 12th, Wallace muscled him around the ring and put him on the canvas three times, twice with Whittaker dragging Wallace down as well; none of the three was ruled a knockdown 313. Whittaker survived to the bell but finished the round spent 13. The win makes him the mandatory challenger, but the unified champion Dmitry Bivol is booked to defend against Callum Smith on December 12, and promoter Eddie Hearn said Whittaker's shot may not come until next summer 3.
Three domestic titles were decided on the undercard:
  • Super welterweight: Bilal Fawaz (13-1-1) retained the British title by stopping Eithan James (17-3) at 1:14 of the eighth round, after dropping him twice in the round 1213.

  • Super featherweight: Ibraheem Sulaimaan (12-0) retained the English title on a unanimous decision over Sonny Hardy (12-1), 97-93, 96-93 and 97-93 12.
  • Super welterweight: Odel Kamara (1-0) stopped Thodoris Ritzakis (5-6-1) at 2:53 of the third round in his professional debut 12.
