This Texas Airbnb is a fairy house made of two concrete domes by a private cove
The Fairy House near Austin joins two concrete domes beside a private cove, with a sauna, paddleboat, 4.98-star guest record, and a date-dependent starting rate from $384 a night.
The unusual part is the construction: two large concrete domes with curved glass windows, joined by a cottage with 16-foot ceilings. Then the property adds a private cove, a paddleboat, a sauna, and a rooftop putting course.
That is The Fairy House at Zenful Cove, a six-person stay in Elgin, Texas, about 35 minutes from downtown Austin. It looks like a fairy-tale set, but the booking page is refreshingly clear about the practical trade-offs: the pond is shared, swimming is prohibited, and the price is date-dependent.

The weird part is the architecture
The Fairy House is not one round room with a bed in it. Zenful Cove describes two large concrete domes connected by a cottage. Their curved glass windows face the surrounding trees and water; the middle section rises to 16 feet and opens onto two balconies and a broad deck. 2
The result is an odd little hybrid: part geodesic hideaway, part full-size vacation house. One dome holds a king bedroom, the other holds another king bedroom, and the loft takes a full-size fold-out bed. Outside, there is a four-person sauna, an outdoor soaking tub, a reading net, a fire pit, and a rooftop putt-putt course. The included paddleboat seats three. 2
The water access is real, but it is not a private swimming hole. Zenful Cove says the pond is shared by its four units. Guests can kayak and fish catch-and-release, but swimming is not allowed. Life jackets are provided for the water activities. 1
Why it surfaced this week
On August 3, Austin travel creator Payton Cavin posted an Instagram reel asking how this Airbnb was still "under the radar." She identified the stay as The Fairy House in Elgin and pointed viewers to its private cove, paddleboat, panoramic dome windows, wraparound decks, and suspended reading net. That is a clean, current discovery signal for a property that already has enough reviews to test the fantasy against real stays. 5

The guest record is unusually clean
Airbnb currently shows 4.98 stars from 42 reviews, with a Guest Favorite marker and a top-10%-of-homes ranking. The reviews are not just generic "nice place" applause; they describe how people actually used the property. 4
"We had a wonderful time, relaxing at the fairy domes and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique getaway." — Joe, stayed with kids, 5 stars, about two weeks before the listing was checked. 4
"We celebrated my son’s 16th birthday and the kids enjoyed fishing, paddle boarding and kayaking!" — Priscilla, stayed one night in June 2026, 5 stars. 4
"It truly feels like a storybook retreat." — Sarah, stayed with kids in June 2026, 5 stars. 4
The useful dissent is small but important: Micah, who stayed a few nights, wrote that the only thing they would say is that "you cannot swim here sadly." That is less a flaw than a reminder not to book this expecting a private lake day. 4
What the price leaves out
The $384/night starting figure is the cleanest public number I could find, and it comes from Zenful Cove rather than a live Airbnb quote. Airbnb showed the listing and the selected dates but no amount for the sample checks, so your dates, taxes, and platform fees may move the final total. 23
There are a few other friction points worth knowing before you get enchanted: no pets, quiet hours from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., no swimming in the pond, and a primary guest age minimum of 21 under the property's terms. The pond is shared with the other three units, so this is a private dome stay with shared water access—not an isolated island. 1
The booking link
See The Fairy House on Airbnb for current dates and the final all-in quote. The property is at 103 Potato Smith Road, Unit C, Elgin, Texas, in Bastrop County; Zenful Cove also maintains a direct Fairy House page with the starting rate and amenity list. 2
This is the pick for someone who wants the architecture to be the trip. If you want a quiet, water-adjacent retreat with a real review trail, it makes a strong case. If you need a swimmable lake, pet-friendly rules, or absolute solitude, keep dreaming past the fairy door.
