The technical tutorial cluster has operators, not a CPM-doubling receipt yet
Three small technical tutorial channels show searchable, faceless-friendly operating systems, but none publicly proves a method-matched CPM or RPM doubling in the past six months.
Technical tutorial channels are easy to mistake for monetization winners. They publish practical answers, build searchable libraries, and can run without a host on camera. But the public record for this week's cluster shows the operating system more clearly than it shows the money: none of the three channels below has a disclosed, method-matched CPM or RPM series proving a twofold increase in the last six months.
That distinction matters. A current third-party AdSense estimate is a snapshot. It is not a before-and-after CPM record, and it cannot tell us whether a revenue change came from geography, traffic mix, seasonality, retention, video length, or advertiser demand.
The cluster: searchable technical help
The opportunity here is not "start a tech channel." It is narrower: build a catalog of answers to recurring setup, access, payment, device, or software problems. The viewer arrives with a task, not a desire to follow a personality. That gives a solo operator a workable production loop: identify a question, record the steps, narrate the failure points, update the video when the interface changes, and let search keep sending intent-led traffic.
The three cases are useful at different levels. BKD tutorials is the clearest screen-tutorial model, with recent examples under seven minutes. Tutorials Geek shows how a narrow satellite and receiver problem set can produce a large back catalog, although its current weekly cadence is not proven. Watch Mike fits the subscriber band and has a large archive, but the public evidence is too thin to clear its low-presence and cadence gates. They are operator references, not three green lights.
The table uses current vidIQ snapshots updated August 9–10, 2026. Its monthly-view and revenue fields are estimates, not creator disclosures. Traffic shares are unavailable for all three. YouTube defines Browse features, Suggested videos, and YouTube Search as separate traffic-source groups, but public channel pages do not expose the percentage split needed to compare them. 1234
| Channel | Subscribers | Views in last 30 days | Estimated monthly AdSense | Traffic split | CPM/RPM gate |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| BKD tutorials | 462K | 2.46M | ~$311 | Not public | Not cleared |
| Tutorials Geek | 179K | 77.33K | ~$139 | Not public | Not cleared |
| Watch Mike | 344K | 162.17K | ~$141 | Not public | Not cleared |
The common signal is operational, not financial. Each channel sits inside the 20K–500K subscriber band, and each has a practical problem or information task that can be expressed in a title. None supplies two dated CPM or RPM points from roughly February 10 through August 10, 2026, using the same metric and method, with the later point at least twice the earlier one.
1. BKD tutorials: the screen-recorded answer factory
Niche tag: Indonesian app, payment, account, and internet-service tutorials.
The August 9 vidIQ snapshot lists 462K subscribers, 92.93M total views, 1.65K videos, 2.46M views in the last 30 days, and estimated monthly AdSense of about $311. The page labels that figure as based on current CPM estimates. That last phrase is the important one: it makes the number useful as a rough present-day benchmark, not as proof of a trend. 1
The public video sample looks like a direct-answer workflow. A video published April 26, 2026, titled "Cara Terbaru Beli Koin TikTok Murah Untuk Pemula," runs 6 minutes 38 seconds and had 11,217 views in the retrieved record. Its description gives the task, the relevant service, and a short sequence for completing it. Another example, published November 23, 2025, explains how to register for a low-cost internet service in 3 minutes 42 seconds. A May 19, 2025 video about borrowing a DANA balance runs 5 minutes 40 seconds. 567
Format anatomy: short screen-led or voiceover tutorials; titles begin with a current action such as "how to buy," "how to register," or "how to borrow," followed by the platform or service and a freshness marker such as "terbaru". The public metadata does not establish whether the operator appears on camera, so the low-presence fit is plausible but not fully verified. Thumbnail treatment and Browse/Suggested/Search shares are also not public.
Cadence: the retrieved sample proves a recent upload, but not one upload per week across the full 90-day test window. The channel therefore remains a watchlist case for this radar rather than a qualified weekly operator.
Why CPM might rise: the current examples are mostly under eight minutes. They do not automatically create the mid-roll inventory available to monetized videos that are eight minutes or longer. YouTube says eligible videos at or above eight minutes can use mid-roll ads, while also warning that an ad slot does not guarantee an ad will serve. A tutorial operator could test longer, genuinely complete walkthroughs, but that is a product and retention experiment—not evidence that BKD tutorials' CPM rose. 8
Replication play
- Record current setup flows for e-wallets, telecom plans, and creator tools, with every screen change dated.
- Build a series around one recurring failure message: what causes it, what to check, and when to escalate.
- Compare the cheapest legitimate way to complete one common digital task without turning the video into an affiliate pitch.
- Publish short fixes first, then make an eight-to-twelve-minute troubleshooting guide only when the problem needs branches and edge cases.
- Revisit high-intent videos after major app updates and put the update date in the title or opening frame.
The replicable asset is the maintenance loop. A small operator does not need a broad technology identity; they need a spreadsheet of recurring user tasks, a capture template, and a process for replacing stale instructions.
2. Tutorials Geek: a narrow hardware-help library
Niche tag: satellite-finder apps, dish alignment, receiver setup, and regional television access.
Tutorials Geek's August 9 vidIQ snapshot lists 179K subscribers, 16.26M total views, 1.78K videos, 77.33K views in the last 30 days, and estimated monthly AdSense of about $139. The page says the estimate uses current CPM assumptions. It does not show a dated CPM or RPM history. 2
The channel's topic boundary is more useful than its total subscriber count. A sampled video titled "2024 Best Mobile Satellite Finder" runs 7 minutes 6 seconds and explains a concrete device-and-app task. Other listed videos cover receiver information and satellite selection. The title formula is functional: a year or freshness marker, the tool or hardware name, and the outcome a viewer wants. 910
Format anatomy: screen demonstrations, device close-ups, or voiceover instruction built around one physical setup problem. Sample lengths range from a little over two minutes to just over seven minutes, so there is no defensible single average. The public sample also does not quantify thumbnail style. A new operator should inspect current uploads rather than assume that old satellite thumbnails still attract clicks.
Cadence: current weekly activity is not established by the public evidence used here. The large video count proves a long-running archive, not a sustained one-upload-per-week schedule over the last 90 days. That is the difference between a searchable library and a currently active side-hustle production system.
Why CPM might rise: hardware and software tutorials can attract viewers with a defined purchase or setup intent, but this channel-level source does not disclose advertiser mix, audience geography, CPM, RPM, or traffic-source percentages. The short sample videos also leave the eight-minute mid-roll threshold untested. There is a monetization hypothesis here—high-intent utility may support stronger ad demand—but no measured channel result.
Replication play
- Create a mobile signal-finder series that tests one app against one satellite dish configuration.
- Explain receiver menus one task at a time: scanning, sorting, saving, and troubleshooting missing channels.
- Compare setup paths for beginners using a visual checklist rather than a broad product review.
- Publish regional update videos when a satellite, receiver interface, or channel package changes.
- Turn the most common comment questions into short follow-up fixes linked from the original guide.
The useful constraint is narrowness. One person can build a durable channel around a single class of equipment if every video answers a different step in the same customer journey. The risk is obsolescence: titles that promise a year or a current interface need a review calendar.
3. Watch Mike: a size-band case with an open format question
Niche tag: Spanish-language explanatory compilations and internet culture topics; exact current niche fit remains unverified.
Watch Mike is inside the size band at 344K subscribers. The August 10 vidIQ snapshot lists 52.21M total views, 640 videos, 162.17K views in the last 30 days, and estimated monthly AdSense of about $141. The page also labels the figure as a current CPM-based estimate. 3
This is the weakest of the three as an operator case. VidIQ's visible top-video list includes Spanish titles about a fictional zombie apocalypse, apocalyptic compilations, and video-game mysteries. Those entries show packaging built around a broad question or compilation promise, but they do not establish a technical tutorial niche, a no-face production method, or a weekly schedule in the target window. 1112
Format anatomy: the public snapshot supports only a tentative read: Spanish voiceover or compilation-led explainers may be part of the archive, with titles using a large topic plus a question, danger, or "all parts" promise. Average length, current thumbnail treatment, and the role of a presenter are not established by the evidence retrieved for this issue.
Cadence: not verified. The archive size and current-view estimate cannot substitute for dated uploads across May 12–August 10, 2026. A channel can have a large back catalog and still fail a current weekly-operator test.
Why CPM might rise: no channel-level explanation is supportable. Spanish-language audience geography, topic suitability, video length, and traffic mix could move the estimate in different directions. The public evidence provides no dated CPM or RPM points, so the case stays open rather than positive.
Replication play
- If the format audit confirms voiceover-only production, test one narrow explanatory series instead of general compilations.
- Build a title system around one question and one evidence set, then avoid combining unrelated subjects under an "all parts" label.
- Use licensed or self-made visuals with a source ledger; compilation scale is not a rights strategy.
- Compare six-minute explainers with eight-to-twelve-minute versions only when the extra material answers real follow-up questions.
- Measure search, browse, and suggested traffic inside Studio before expanding the topic cluster.
Watch Mike is best used as a reminder about evidence discipline. Subscriber count can tell a new operator that a channel has crossed a distribution threshold. It cannot tell them what to copy.
What would turn this cluster green?
The missing receipt is specific. A future issue should not call any of these channels a CPM-doubling case until it finds:
- A matched metric: CPM compared with CPM, or RPM compared with RPM. A vidIQ AdSense estimate is not interchangeable with a creator's RPM screenshot.
- Two dated observations: both within the six-month window, with the same definition and method, and the later value at least twice the earlier one.
- A cadence record: dated uploads showing at least one per week for 90 days. Total video count and a current-view estimate do not prove this.
- A format audit: recent durations, titles, thumbnails, narration or animation evidence, and a realistic estimate of solo production time.
- A traffic cut: Browse, Suggested, and Search shares from creator analytics or a direct disclosure. YouTube documents where those fields live in the Reach reports, but public channel pages do not provide them. 4
For now, the technical tutorial cluster gives a side-hustle operator three repeatable ideas: answer one high-intent task, keep the topic boundary narrow, and maintain the library as interfaces change. It does not give us a verified six-month CPM acceleration story. Copy the workflow, not the revenue headline.
Editorial note: all three monthly AdSense figures are current third-party estimates labeled as CPM-based estimates. None is presented as proof that CPM or RPM doubled.
