Bay Area flight deals radar: SAS to seven European cities from $407, and a Southwest points deadline tonight (2026)

Seven SFO–Europe fares landed on The Flight Deal between September 17 and September 20, all on Scandinavian Airlines and all routed through Copenhagen. Brussels is the lowest of them at $407 round trip, and two of the seven have already lost their booking windows. United put Honolulu, Maui and Kauai round trips on the same board on September 14 and 15, priced at $206 to $208. The tightest clock today belongs to Southwest, whose double-points registration closes at 11:59 p.m. Central tonight. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7

The Flight Deal prints the same warning on every page: a fare is usually gone two days after it is posted. That splits this week's board in two. The seven posts from September 17 onward are worth pricing today. The six posts from September 14 to 16 are reprice-first leads, useful if the airline still shows the same number. 8

One rule governs the points entries below. Transfer balances only after the exact award flight, cabin and date are visible on the airline's own search, because a bonus that arrives without award space buys nothing. 9

The dated fares come from The Flight Deal's San Francisco feed and its individual deal pages. The Southwest rows come from the airline's own route pages, and each one carries a collection stamp from inside the past 24 hours. 8 14 16

Check today: seven SAS routes into Europe

Scandinavian Airlines put a wide Europe sale through its Copenhagen hub on The Flight Deal, one city per post, from September 17 to September 20. All seven price in T class, the airline's Basic Economy bucket, and all seven route SFO–Copenhagen–destination–Copenhagen–SFO with stopovers barred. 1

The Basic ticket carries three limits worth knowing before the price sells itself. A checked bag costs $75 each way when bought at least 22 hours before check-in, and $105 at the airport counter. Changes are barred. Cancellations outside the 24-hour risk-free window leave the ticket with no residual value. The Regular fare adds one checked bag each way for about $70 more on five of the seven routes. 10 13

That arithmetic decides most of these bookings. On Amsterdam, Stockholm and Warsaw the Regular fare costs $70 more than Basic, while one checked bag each way costs $150 at the Basic rate. A traveler checking a single bag pays less by buying Regular outright. Brussels inverts the pattern: the gap there is $509, so the $407 Basic fare is the version worth pricing, and only for a traveler who packs in a carry-on and accepts a frozen itinerary. 1 10

Berlin and Oslo arrived with a last purchase day of September 20 and a 28-day advance-purchase rule. Anyone reading this on Monday is past both. The other five give between 7 and 28 days of advance purchase depending on the city, so price them before planning around them. 2 3 11

Scandinavian Airlines earns Delta SkyMiles as a SkyTeam member. The Berlin itinerary earns $569 in Medallion Qualifying Dollars on Delta, and Milan earns $618. 3 11

Hawaii: $206 round trip from SFO, $146 one way from OAK and SJC

United's Hawaii fares are the cheapest round trips on this week's board. Honolulu runs $208 Basic or $318 Regular, and Maui and Kauai both run $206 or $316, with sample dates in the first half of November. The Regular fare includes a normal carry-on and advance seat assignment. The Basic fare assigns a seat at check-in and charges $50 each way for a carry-on too large for the space under the seat. 4 5 6

The two secondary airports now publish their own Honolulu prices, and they read lower per leg. Southwest's Oakland and San Jose route pages both show $146 one way for early and mid-November, with $151 and $155 on the surrounding dates. September departures on those same pages start at $319, which puts the November gap at $173 a leg. 14 15

Part of that gap comes from a sale that has already closed. Southwest ran its Week of WOW fare sale from September 14 to September 17. It discounted up to 40 percent off base fares for travel between October 5, 2026 and March 3, 2027, and it required a 21-day advance purchase. The booking deadline has passed, and the October-to-March prices the route pages show today are what those discounts left behind. 20

Oakland's second route on this board is the short hop south. Southwest's Oakland–Long Beach page shows $79 one way on October 12, 13, 17 and 20, on November 9, and on December 2, 10, 21 and 24. Every month from October through February now starts at that price, and September starts at $266. 16

Southwest lets travelers change any of these tickets without a change fee, collecting only the fare difference when the new flight costs more. That flexibility is the main thing the $146 one-way buys over a restricted Basic Economy round trip. 14

Reprice first: Porto, Savannah and Seoul

Three leads are old enough that the airline may have withdrawn them. Delta posted SFO–Porto at $609 Basic or $829 Regular on September 14, with a sample of April 14–21, 2027 routed through New York. The Regular fare carries a checked bag and advance seat assignment, and the Basic fare charges $75 each way for a bag. 17

United's SFO–Savannah fare of $244 Basic or $354 Regular went up on September 16, with a sample of November 7–10 routed through Chicago. Savannah prices in N and G class, and the itinerary earns $282.79 in Elite Qualifying Dollars. 18

Seoul is the nonstop long-haul on the board. United posted $653 Basic or $873 Regular on September 16, sample November 12–19, nonstop both ways in K class. The Regular fare includes two checked bags, and a second bag costs $120 each way on the Basic fare. United also permits two stopovers in Asia at $100 each on this fare. 19

Points radar: a registration that closes tonight

Southwest Rapid Rewards is running double points for fall travel, and the registration window shuts at 11:59 p.m. Central tonight, September 21. Members register, then book through Southwest between September 18 and September 21, for travel between September 18 and December 16. The bonus doubles the fare-class earn rate, so a Choice fare pays 12 points per dollar and a Choice Extra fare pays 28. Bonus points post within 72 hours of flying and sit outside A-List and Companion Pass qualification. 7

Two transfer bonuses opened on September 20 and run to October 24. Citi ThankYou Rewards adds 30 percent on transfers to Japan Airlines Mileage Bank, and 25 percent on transfers to Avianca LifeMiles. Both programs price partner awards without fuel surcharges, and both need award space confirmed on the airline's own search before any transfer. 9

Four more bonuses sit on the calendar:

Chase Ultimate Rewards to Marriott Bonvoy, 70 percent, through October 15. Chase opened this one on September 15, and it suits a traveler topping up a specific Marriott award. 9
Amex Membership Rewards to British Airways, Iberia and Aer Lingus Avios, 30 percent, through September 27. This is the nearest deadline in the set, and Avios works best on short-haul partner redemptions. 9
Chase Ultimate Rewards to Air Canada Aeroplan, 20 percent, through September 30. Aeroplan prices partner awards without carrier surcharges, including United and Swiss. 9
Rove Miles to Copa ConnectMiles, 40 percent, and Capital One Miles to Japan Airlines Mileage Bank, 30 percent, both through September 30. 9

The September Flying Blue Promo Rewards catalog closes on September 30 for travel through February 28, 2027. It still lists Europe to San Francisco in premium economy at 30,000 miles on Air France and KLM. Promo Rewards now issue as Light fares, which carry no checked bag in economy or premium economy. 21

Two further offers round out the list, each with a limit worth knowing. Southwest sells Rapid Rewards points at a 40, 45 or 50 percent discount through October 2, with a 3,000-point minimum purchase. LoyaltyLobby values a Rapid Rewards point at roughly 1.2 cents on a Wanna Get Away award, while the discounted purchase price at the 40 percent tier works out to 1.8 cents. Paying cash for a ticket comes out cheaper than buying the points for it. 22 Turkish Airlines runs a Miles&Smiles economy award sale on September 23 that returns 50 percent of the miles spent. Its exclusion list names San Francisco among thirteen routes, so Bay Area travelers gain nothing from it. 23

What this scan could not verify

The Oakland and San Jose prices come from Southwest's own route pages. Those pages record booking-engine snapshots with a 24-hour collection stamp, so treat each figure as a snapshot that needs a booking-engine check before committing. 14 15 16

The deal publishers give exact fare classes, routings, sample dates and booking paths. Long-run average prices for these routes go unpublished. This issue uses comparisons it can source instead: same-page September versus November prices on the Southwest routes, the upgrade cost between fare families, and the bag fees each family charges. 8

Book today in this order

Register for Southwest double points. The window closes at 11:59 p.m. Central tonight, and registration has to happen before the flight is booked to earn the bonus.
Price SAS Amsterdam, Stockholm and Warsaw. These three carry the clearest upgrade case: $70 more for Regular against $150 in Basic bag fees.
Price SAS Brussels. The $407 fare works for a traveler with carry-on luggage and fixed dates, because the Regular version costs $509 more.
Compare Hawaii across the three airports. United's $206 to $208 round trips leave from SFO, and Southwest's $146 one-way fares leave from Oakland and San Jose.
Take the Oakland–Long Beach fare if the short hop is on your calendar. Nine dates across October, November and December sit at $79.
Reprice Porto, Savannah and Seoul before acting. All three were posted more than two days ago, so confirm the fare on the airline's site first.
