A cartoon parody song about the week JD Vance asked the country for "another chance" — and got his answer straight away, from everywhere, at once.
Vance made the pitch on the All-In podcast with the midterms less than two months out. "There's a lot of good that's been done, but there's a lot of work left to do," he said, before the line that did the damage: "Give us another chance, or give us another couple of years, to continue to work on the amazing things that we've been doing for the past two years." 1
The replies arrived in every register the internet has. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries compressed the pitch into two lines — "Vance to America: Republicans have failed but give us another chance," followed by "Jeffries to Vance: Get Lost." Journalist Philip DeFranco measured it against Vance's earlier White House exchange with Volodymyr Zelensky: "JD Vance went from 'HAVE YOU EVEN SAID "THANK YOU" ONCE?!' energy to 'Guys...you've gotta give us another chance' energy pretty damn quick." Writer and comedian Mike Drucker was blunter: "No greater pitch than having complete governmental power for two years and then going 'Okay, yes, we've … everything up, but give us more time!'" Influencer Hasan Piker answered with "LMAO NO," and the account run by Vance's predecessor's team posted "JD Vance begs for midterm votes." 1
The polling underneath the ask is the part the song could not resist. A Reuters/Ipsos survey run September 11–14 among 1,143 adults found 49 percent strongly disapproving of Trump's handling of the presidency against 15 percent strongly approving, and 50 percent strongly disapproving of his handling of the economy against 11 percent strongly approving. 2
The pitch went out on a venture-capital podcast rather than a rally stage, and the exchange is in the episode itself. 3
The song and every frame of the cartoon are original to this episode.
