September 6 LEGO radar: 70168 is cheap after shipping, but the listing is old
LEGO Ultra Agents Drillex Diamond Job 70168 is 20.0% below its current reference after shipping, but a missing backpack and an old eBay update make this a verify-first lead.
The scan window ran from August 30 at 10:00 through September 6 at 10:00, 2026, UTC-05:00. One opened eBay page supplied a usable retired-set price lead. The page showed a July revision date, while the native listing-start time remained undisclosed. The other monitored surfaces produced no opened detail page with a qualifying weekly timestamp.
This issue is a date-unverified price screen; confirmed weekly-new listing status remains open. The single lead is worth checking because the landed price still sits below its current market reference. The missing backpack and the seller's parts description keep the lead in the investigate-first category.
One actionable lead
| Rank | Set and theme | Retirement signal | Marketplace evidence | Price test | Condition and red flag | Action |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 70168 Drillex Diamond Job · Agents / Ultra Agents 1 | Retired 2015; 2 exclusive minifigures; 34 recorded sales | eBay, $22.99 + $12.90 shipping; seller reports 100% positive feedback and 3.2K items sold 2 | $44.85 six-month reference; 48.8% below before shipping and 20.0% below at $35.89 landed 1 | Used; seller says one figure is missing a backpack and the 1x16 Technic bricks are black rather than light bluish gray 2 | Ask for a parts and minifigure photo set before offering; aim for $36 delivered or less |
The price lead is concrete. The timing remains open. The eBay page records a last update on July 22, 2026, leaving the September 6 weekly listing start unverified. The seller also says the listing is used, the backpack is missing from one figure, and the long Technic bricks differ from the expected light bluish gray description. 2
Why 70168 makes the screen
Brick Ranker identifies 70168 as a 312-piece Agents set released in January 2015 and retired in November 2015. The page lists two minifigures, both exclusive to this set, and records 34 sales since January 2022. The current six-month average is $44.85, against a $29.99 original retail price. 1
The eBay asking price is 48.8% below the $44.85 reference before shipping. Delivery brings the total to $35.89, which remains 20.0% below the reference. That discount leaves room for a used copy, but the reference is a market guide rather than a guaranteed sale price. The 34-sale history gives the set more support than a one-sale page, while BrickLink low-supply status remains unavailable.
The set's older retirement year and two exclusive figures are the strongest visible scarcity signals here. The opened Brick Ranker page leaves the low-supply count unavailable, so this issue treats scarcity as provisional rather than assigning a complete rarity score. The discount also describes the seller's stated configuration, not a complete collector copy.
What to ask the seller
The phrase "all of the pieces" needs a closer check because the same description identifies a missing backpack and a color substitution. Ask for current photos of the actual lot, both minifigures, the backpack, the drill assembly, the long Technic bricks, and the instruction booklet. Ask the seller to identify the missing backpack by figure and to confirm whether the model has been dismantled into the pictured bags. 2
The two figures deserve their own check because Brick Ranker lists both as exclusive to 70168. Compare the torso, head, headgear, accessories, and printed details with the 70168 inventory before treating the copy as complete. The figure description and the two exclusive minifigures are separate checks: a cheap set becomes an incomplete set quickly when one small figure part is missing. 1
The listing carries a seller-does-not-accept-returns policy, even though the seller reports 100% positive feedback and 3.2K items sold. Seller history lowers transaction risk; photos of the exact pieces are still required. Keep the request focused on the parts that determine whether the $35.89 landed price is buying a displayable set or a repair project. 2
Five-minute buyer check
- Separate page revision from listing start. The page's July 22 update is older than the August 30-September 6 window. Keep the set in a saved-search watchlist until eBay exposes a native start date or a new page appears with one.
- Use the landed ceiling. Compare the full $35.89 total with the $44.85 reference. The $22.99 headline price hides $12.90 in delivery.
- Resolve the two stated defects. Get a close-up of the missing backpack issue and the black 1x16 Technic bricks before paying.
- Verify the exclusive figures. Match both 70168 figures and their accessories to the set inventory. Treat a figure without its required accessory as an incomplete copy.
- Choose the action. Buy only after the seller documents the lot. A total around $36 delivered is the working ceiling; a higher total needs a complete, well-documented copy to justify the premium.
Bottom line
70168 Drillex Diamond Job is the only opened lead this week with a visible price below its market reference. The $35.89 landed total is attractive enough to investigate, while the missing backpack, color substitution, no-returns policy, and old page update keep it out of the confirmed-new-listing category.
The scan produced zero marketplace detail pages that proved a listing start inside August 30-September 6 across eBay, Mercari, Vinted, Depop, or BrickLink. Use this week's number as a saved-search ceiling, and reserve the word "new" for a page with a native weekly start time.
