November 1 LEGO radar: a 2010 Technic crane lands 38% under market, and three Christmas Village sets ask 55% to 58% over
Eleven out-of-production LEGO sets went up for sale on Mercari between October 25 and November 1, 2026, and a 2010 Technic mobile crane at $56.98 landed is 38.1% under its used average, with a Volkswagen T2 camper van 13.4% under; three sealed Winter Village sets ask 55% to 58% over theirs.
Thirteen LEGO listings went up on Mercari between October 25 and November 1, 2026, 10:00 GMT-5 with a posting date printed on the item page. Eleven of them are sets LEGO no longer makes.
Two of the eleven ask less than their set has been selling for. The better one is a Technic crane that left the line in 2011, at $56.98 landed against a $92.00 used average.
The other end of the board is seasonal. Three Winter Village sets were listed inside three days of each other, all sealed, all about 55% over what sealed copies have been selling for.
Landed is the asking price plus shipping plus Mercari's buyer-protection fee. That total is what leaves a buyer's account, and it is the figure every gap is measured from.
Reference is brick'em's six-month average of BrickLink completed sales for the set in the condition it is offered in. A sealed box is held to the sealed average, a used build to the used one.
Gap puts the landed total against that reference, so a negative number is a set priced under market.
Scarcity here is read from retirement date, set format, and how much of each set's value sits in its minifigures. BrickLink's live seller-supply count stayed out of reach again: its catalogue page renders a set's facts and its items-for-sale panel still loads empty.
Where two neighbouring listings finish within two points of each other, the older retirement ranks first.
Every listing here is a single copy, so the only deadline on any of them is the sale itself.

The two under market
8053 Mobile Crane. The oldest set on the board by seven years, and the only one whose ask sits far under its own average. LEGO released 8053 in August 2010 at $99.99: 1,289 pieces, no minifigures, retired at the end of 2011. 1
Sealed copies average $239.60. Used ones average $92.00. 3
A 1,289-piece Technic flagship from 2010 trading under its own retail price tells you how the market treats it: as parts. There are no minifigures here to carry value separately, so a complete build is worth what its beams, gears and pneumatics are worth.
This copy went up October 27 from North Carolina at $55.00 with free shipping and $1.98 in buyer protection, $56.98 landed. 2
The condition is the whole argument. The seller calls it fair, says a few stickers are missing, and describes the manuals as loose-bound with book 1 missing pages. For display, that is a played-with crane. For the 1,289 pieces, it is the cheapest Technic stock on the board this week.
Ask which stickers are gone before you decide, and ask for the boom from above — the long telescoping section is where a used crane shows wear first. Ask too whether the hook and the four outriggers are in the box; both are in the photographs. Ceiling: $92.
10279 Volkswagen T2 Camper Van. A 2021 set that retired at the end of 2022 and now trades a third under its retail price. LEGO released it in August 2021 at $179.99: 2,207 pieces, no minifigures. 4
Used copies average $119.55; sealed ones $181.73. 6
Like the crane, this set is all parts. That is what makes a used copy at 57% of its retail price a fair ask rather than a bargain-hunter's fantasy.
The listing went up November 1 from Arizona at $99.95 with free shipping and $3.59 in buyer protection, $103.54 landed. 5
The seller describes it as complete apart from one European license plate sticker, adult-owned and displayed, with no instructions and no box. Two deductions belong in the price: the sticker, and the paperwork.
Ask whether the sticker sheet survives, since a partial sheet lets you choose which plate to run. A 10279 instruction booklet is sold separately and worth pricing before you pay. Ceiling: $120.
The three closest to market
10246 Detective's Office. The closest thing to a fair price on the board, and the second-oldest retirement on it. LEGO released 10246 in January 2015 at $159.99 with 2,262 pieces and six minifigures, and retired it at the end of 2018. 7
Used copies average $265.90, sealed ones $316.29, and the six figures are $35.10 of the used average. 9
This one went up October 28 from Massachusetts at $260.00 with free shipping and $9.36 in buyer protection, $269.36 landed. That is 1.3% over the used average. 8
The description is the sort a careful seller writes: complete with all pieces and minifigures, original manuals, no box, adult-owned, assembled and displayed. Local pickup in Chelmsford is on offer, which removes shipping risk for a buyer near Boston.
What the price does not include is a box. Ask about the pale-tan facade plates and the white window frames, the parts most likely to have yellowed on a set this old. Ceiling: $266.
21319 Central Perk. The most figure-dependent set on the board. LEGO released 21319 in September 2019 at $59.99: 1,070 pieces and seven minifigures, retired at the end of 2022. 10
Used copies average $62.89 and the seven figures are $18.20 of that, 29% of the whole. 12
This copy went up October 27 from Georgia at $71.25, marked down from $75.00, with free shipping and $2.56 in buyer protection, $73.81 landed. 11
The seller lists all seven — Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Joey, Phoebe and Gunther — plus the couch, the stage, the coffee machine and the guitar, with the box and the manual. At 29% figure share, one substituted head or a missing Gunther changes the maths more than any scratch on the box.
Ask for the seven in one photograph, Gunther's apron print legible. Ceiling: $63.
42122 Jeep Wrangler. A sealed copy of a set that sold for $49.99 on the shelf. LEGO released 42122 in January 2021 with 665 pieces and no minifigures, and retired it at the end of 2023. 13
Sealed copies average $52.87; used ones $20.19. 15
This one went up October 28 from Washington at $59.95 with free shipping and $2.15 in buyer protection, $62.10 landed. 14
So the sealed premium is 17.5% over the sealed average and 24% over the price LEGO charged. The listing offers nothing beyond a photograph of a box, and the seller's entire description is one line.
A boxed Technic set is easy to reseal and hard to inspect. Ask for both short ends and the bottom panel in one frame, and for the sealed bag inside. Ceiling: $53.
The middle of the board
10260 Downtown Diner. The widest gap between what a used copy and a sealed copy are worth. LEGO released 10260 in January 2018 at $169.99: 2,480 pieces, six minifigures, retired at the end of 2020. 16
Used copies average $217.47, sealed ones $298.34. The six figures are $39.38 of the used average, and the Boxer alone is $16.14 of that. 18
This listing went up October 26 from Massachusetts at $256.00, down from $270.00, with free shipping and $9.21 in buyer protection, $265.21 landed. 17
It is an assembled set sold with instructions, displayed in a glass cabinet, and the description does not mention a box. At 22.0% over the used average, the ask is still $33 under the sealed average — which is the trade being offered: no box, but a sealed-grade price avoided.
Ask for the Boxer's head and the pink-and-teal facade plates in daylight. Ceiling: $217.
21329 Fender Stratocaster. A set whose sealed average runs at nearly double its used one. LEGO released 21329 in October 2021 at $119.99: 1,074 pieces, no minifigures, retired at the end of 2024. 19
Used copies average $89.35. Sealed ones average $167.76, an 88% premium for a box and two years of shelf life. 21
This copy went up October 28 from California at $225.00 with free shipping and $8.10 in buyer protection, $233.10 landed, or 39.0% over the sealed average. 20
The description is one sentence: unopened, new in box, retired. Nothing about storage, nothing about the box's corners.
For a sealed guitar, the box is the product. Ask for the four corners and the shrink wrap seam, and ask where it has been stored for two years. Ceiling: $168.
21324 123 Sesame Street. An honest listing priced as if the set still sold at retail. LEGO released 21324 in November 2020 at $119.99: 1,367 pieces and six minifigures, retired at the end of 2022. 22
Used copies average $131.57; sealed ones $154.95. 24
This one went up October 28 from Colorado at $175.00 plus $10.99 shipping and $6.69 in buyer protection, $192.68 landed, 46.5% over the used average and 24% over the sealed one. 23
The seller says the set was built by them, came apart in a move, and that every piece and minifigure is present with the instructions and no box. That is a complete used set with a rebuilt history, and the ask runs 61% over the price LEGO charged.
Ask for a photograph of the bagged parts sorted by bag number, and for Big Bird's beak and the six heads. Ceiling: $132.
The Christmas Village premium
Three Winter Village sets were listed within three days of each other and finished within 2.4 points of one another: +56.8%, +55.1% and +57.5%, all sealed. The first week of November is when people start building a Christmas display, and these three were priced for that.
10293 Santa's Visit. LEGO released 10293 in October 2021 at $99.99: 1,445 pieces and four minifigures, retired at the end of 2023. 25
Sealed copies average $115.60, used ones $98.37, and the four figures are only $11.13 of the used average. 27
A sealed copy went up October 30 from New Hampshire at $175.00 with free shipping and $6.30 in buyer protection, $181.30 landed. 26
10308 Holiday Main Street. LEGO released 10308 in September 2022 at $99.99: 1,514 pieces, six minifigures, retired at the end of 2024. 28
Sealed copies average $137.62 and used ones $110.25. 30
The listing went up October 29 from Florida at $175.00 plus $30.99 shipping and $7.41 in buyer protection, $213.40 landed. That shipping charge is 15% of the total, and it is the difference between this set and the two beside it. 29
10325 Alpine Lodge. The freshest retirement on the board and the highest premium. LEGO released 10325 in September 2023 at $99.99: 1,517 pieces, five minifigures, retired at the end of 2025. 31
Sealed copies average $123.62, used ones $98.95. 33
This one went up October 28 from California at $170.00 plus $17.99 shipping and $6.76 in buyer protection, $194.75 landed — 95% over the price LEGO charged, for a set that left the shelf ten months ago. 32
None of the three is scarce. All three retired within the last three years, all three trade sealed often enough for a six-month average, and the premium on each is the calendar rather than the set. A buyer with a display to finish can pay it; a buyer who wants the set at its own value should set the ceiling and wait for January.
Two listings labelled retired that are still on sale
75381 Buildable Droideka. The title says retired. BrickRanker has it leaving at the end of 2026. LEGO released it in April 2024 at $64.99 with one minifigure, and sealed copies average $48.05, below the shelf price. 3536
This copy went up October 31 from Alabama at $63.00 with free shipping and $2.26 in buyer protection, $65.26 landed. 37 That is 36% over the sealed average and 27 cents over the price LEGO asks while the set is still on the shelf.
21347 Red London Telephone Box. Labelled retired again, and again still in production by BrickRanker's estimate, which has it running to the end of 2026. LEGO released 21347 in January 2024 at $114.99: 1,460 pieces, no minifigures, sealed average $103.98. 3839
This one went up October 25 from California at $99.99 with free shipping and $3.59 in buyer protection, $103.58 landed, four cents under the average. 40
A set trading at its own average while still in production has no reason to be bought secondhand. The seller is new to the platform and points buyers at their eBay page for reviews, which is worth knowing before paying.
What to check before you send money
These are the checks this week's listings actually call for, in the order a buyer would run them.
- Get the sticker sheet photographed. Two of this week's used sets are short of stickers: 8053 by a few, 10279 by one European plate. Sticker sheets go out of print with the set, so you are buying what remains.
- Ask for the booklet cover, not just the booklet. 8053's seller says book 1 is missing pages, 10279 has no instructions, and 10246 and 21319 both include theirs. Printed manuals are a line item you can price elsewhere.
- Match the piece count to the description. 10246 is 2,262 pieces, 10279 is 2,207, 8053 is 1,289. A seller claiming complete without a count is offering an opinion.
- Look at the box's four corners and both short ends. Five of the eleven are sealed, and on each of those five the box is most of what the money buys.
- Ask for the most valuable figure in one photograph. On 21319 the seven figures are 29% of the used average; on 10260 the Boxer alone is $16.14 of $39.38.
- Where there are no figures, read the parts list. 8053, 10279, 21329 and 42122 contain none, so a missing rare part comes straight off the value with nothing to offset it.
- Check the retirement yourself before believing the label. Two sellers this week call a set retired that is still on sale, one of them asking over a shelf price that is still live.
Ceilings, set by set
The landed number at which each set stops being a question, in the order of the table.
| Set | Ceiling | This week's ask, landed |
|---|---|---|
| 8053 Mobile Crane | $92 | $56.98 — under |
| 10279 Volkswagen T2 Camper Van | $120 | $103.54 — under |
| 10246 Detective's Office | $266 | $269.36 |
| 21319 Central Perk | $63 | $73.81 |
| 42122 Jeep Wrangler | $53 | $62.10 |
| 10260 Downtown Diner | $217 | $265.21 |
| 21329 Fender Stratocaster | $168 | $233.10 |
| 21324 123 Sesame Street | $132 | $192.68 |
| 10293 Santa's Visit | $116 | $181.30 |
| 10308 Holiday Main Street | $138 | $213.40 |
| 10325 Alpine Lodge | $124 | $194.75 |
Where these listings came from
All thirteen came from Mercari, and all thirteen carried a printed posting date inside the window.
The four other marketplaces named for this channel produced nothing that could be dated into the week. eBay's search page rendered prices and seller locations but no item titles or links, so nothing there could be identified, dated or linked. Vinted's catalogue rendered as a filtered page of categories and conditions with no item links to open and no posting date to read. Depop's search returned an unfilled shell. BrickLink's catalogue rendered 8053's own facts — 2010, 2,045 grams, three instruction booklets, 1,289 parts — while its items-for-sale panel stayed on a loading line, so its live seller-supply counts are missing from the scarcity read for another week.
Searches that answered this week:
lego sealed retired, lego modular retired, lego castle retired, lego technic retired, lego icons retired, lego city retired, lego ideas retired, lego ucs retired and lego vintage set.References
