Sony's double hit: 5 used cameras at 6-month lows
Sony's A7R VI announcement and A7 V release are simultaneously compressing E-mount used prices to multi-year lows. Today's five picks span two Sony full-frames, a Fujifilm X-T4 Silver + XF 56mm bundle, and a Canon R5 — each with 6-month price history, verified condition grades, shutter counts where disclosed, and honest pull-trigger-or-wait verdicts.
System weather: Sony E-mount bleeding out
Two announcements are doing the work right now. Sony unveiled the A7R VI on May 13 1 — 66.8MP stacked CMOS, $4,499, shipping June. That sent A7R V/IV/III owners scrambling to list before prices crater further. Meanwhile the A7 V (33MP, $2,899, shipping since December 2025) 2 has been flushing A7 III bodies out of closets all year. The combination is compressing the entire E-mount used stack simultaneously — 5 of today's 7 qualified candidates are Sony gear.
Nikon Z is the runner-up in distress: the Z6 III has taken three price drops in four months 3, and Nikon issued a March 2026 service advisory for manufacturing defects on the Z6 III, Z5 II, and ZR 4 — buyers are skittish. Canon RF shows mixed signals; used R5 prices are still dropping, but the RF lens ecosystem is smaller, limiting body supply. Today's five picks are the deals worth acting on.

| 2 | Sony A7R III + grip | $1,000 shipped | r/photomarket | Used (8,843 clicks) | Buy |
| 3 | Fujifilm X-T4 Silver | $875 shipped | r/photomarket | Good (paint wear) | Buy |
| 4 | Fujifilm XF 56mm f/1.2 R | $379 shipped | r/photomarket | Excellent | Buy |
| 5 | Canon EOS R5 body | $2,138 | KEH | EX | Buy (medium-high) |
1. Sony A7 III — $990 EX at KEH
Why it's at a low now: Three generations behind the A7 V. Every A7 IV owner who buys a used A7 V dumps their A7 IV, which pushes A7 III prices down another notch. KEH's $990 EX sits $150–210 below B&H ($1,149–$1,199) and Adorama ($1,139–$1,149) for comparable condition. 1
Condition & shutter: KEH EX (Excellent) — shows moderate wear, all functions confirmed. Shutter count not disclosed by KEH — call KEH customer service and request it before buying; the A7 III has a 200,000-actuation rated lifespan. Early pre-2019 serial numbers have been associated with premature shutter failures in a class-action lawsuit 5; ask for the serial range before committing.
6-month range: ~$939 low to ~$1,300 high for comparable EX condition. $990 sits at roughly the 10th–15th percentile. 6
Seller: KEH Camera (established dealer, 180-day warranty, 21-day return).
Pull trigger or wait: Pull trigger at $990 — under $1,000 for a 24MP full-frame body with 693 native E-mount lenses behind it is hard to argue against. Even another $50 drop in six months won't change the utility you get today.
Pair it with: Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM I at KEH for $1,301 EX 7 — the GM II release has pushed the original down by several hundred dollars. Total kit: ~$2,291 for a legitimate professional hybrid setup.
2. Sony A7R III + VG-C3EM battery grip — $1,000 shipped, r/photomarket
Why it's at a low now: The A7R VI announcement hit nine days before this listing went live. Seller u/babyragedota lists the A7R III at $1,000 shipped with PayPal G&S fees included — and throws in the VG-C3EM battery grip (roughly $100 value used). 8
Condition & shutter: Shutter count: 8,843 / 500,000 rated — 1.8% of rated life. The A7R III has a 500k-actuation rated shutter, meaning this body is mechanically near-new. Paint chips on corners are cosmetic only; seller's photos show the actual unit.
"Camera functions normally. There are some corners where paint is chipped off. Asking $1000 shipped with PayPal G&S fees included. Price is negotiable."— u/babyragedota, r/photomarket 8
6-month range: Dealer EX condition runs $1,126–$1,364 at KEH 9; $1,000 shipped with grip lands 10–15% below the KEH floor for body alone.
Seller reputation: u/babyragedota, 3 confirmed r/photomarket trades — thin but not zero. PayPal G&S provides full buyer protection if the item doesn't match description.
Red flags: 3 trades is low. Request timestamped photos and serial number before sending payment; cross-check the serial against any Sony service documentation.
Pull trigger or wait: Pull trigger. A 42.4MP full-frame body with 8,843 clicks and a $100 grip included at $1,000 shipped is the kind of listing that disappears in hours once the A7R VI announcement fully circulates. The 500k-rated shutter means mechanical life is essentially unused.
Pair it with: Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM I (see pick #1 pairing) for a ~$2,301 pro kit.
3. Fujifilm X-T4 Silver — $875 shipped, r/photomarket
Why it's at a low now: The X-T4 is two generations behind the X-T5 and three behind the anticipated X-T6 (rumored September 2026). 10 The silver colorway adds an additional discount — used silver X-T4 bodies consistently trade below black copies. KEH prices the same body at $1,084 EX; this private listing with paint wear on the top plate comes in 19% below that. 11
Condition & shutter: Seller u/AsusChrome describes "paint wear on the top plate but no functional issues." Shutter count not disclosed — on a 300,000-actuation-rated body, even 150k clicks (50% life) is acceptable. The IBIS unit (a new feature for the X-T4 vs. X-T3) should be tested at purchase: flip the camera and confirm the sensor moves freely and stabilizes in live view.
Seller reputation: u/AsusChrome is a moderator on r/photomarket with 292 confirmed trades — the highest trust tier on that forum. The fee-free payment requirement (no PayPal G&S) is the only protection you give up; against a 292-trade mod, that's a calculated risk most buyers accept.
6-month range: Comparable condition at KEH $1,050–$1,200; B&H Condition 9 at $1,324.95. 12
Pull trigger or wait: Pull trigger. A 26.1MP APS-C body with IBIS, fully articulating screen, and Fujifilm's film simulation color science for $875 from a 292-trade moderator is a clean buy. The cosmetic paint wear is priced in.
Pair it with: Pick #4 below — the XF 56mm f/1.2 R from the same seller, for $370 bundled, making the complete portrait kit $1,245 shipped.
4. Fujifilm XF 56mm f/1.2 R (original) — $379 shipped, r/photomarket
Why it's at a low now: Fujifilm released the weather-resistant XF 56mm f/1.2 R WR version, which pressured original non-WR copies down. The two lenses share the same optical formula; the WR version adds weather sealing. At $379, this is 12–24% below typical used market for the original ($430–$500). 13
Condition: Excellent — light surface dust, overall clean. Includes UV filter and rear cap (no original box or hood).
"Excellent condition; light surface dust and signs of use but overall clean. Includes lens, rear cap, & UV filter."— u/AsusChrome, r/photomarket 13
Seller: Same u/AsusChrome (292-trade mod). Same fee-free payment terms as pick #3 — bundle both for $1,245 total shipped ($875 + $370).
Red flags: No weather sealing (the original 56/1.2 never had it). No original hood — buy a replacement LH-XF23 hood for ~$15 used.
Pull trigger or wait: Pull trigger, especially if you're buying the X-T4 from pick #3. The XF 56mm f/1.2 (full-frame equivalent: 85mm f/1.8 in terms of angle of view, though the actual aperture is f/1.2) is Fujifilm's most celebrated portrait lens. At $379 from the highest-reputation seller on the forum, there's nothing to wait for.
5. Canon EOS R5 — $2,138 EX at KEH
Why it's at a low now: The Canon EOS R5 Mark II launched in August 2024 at $4,399 new 14, and trade-ins have been flowing ever since. The original R5's 45MP sensor and 500,000-actuation rated shutter remain competitive for stills work. At $2,138, the used R5 is approximately 49% of new R5 Mark II price.
Condition & shutter: KEH EX. Shutter count not disclosed — B&H lists comparable units with counts ranging from 2,000 to 62,000 15, so variance is wide. Verify the specific KEH unit's count before purchase; ask KEH customer service directly.
Known issue: R5 IBIS can cause sensor twist on the first shot in certain configurations. Canon acknowledged the issue for use with the RF5.2mm dual fisheye lens; test IBIS behavior at wide focal lengths before accepting the unit. The 8K video overheating limitation is firmware-mitigated but not fully resolved — if 8K is a priority, budget for external recording or the Mark II. 16
6-month range: Estimated $2,100–$2,800 for comparable condition. $2,138 sits at the low end.
Pull trigger or wait: Buy with medium-high confidence. The gap between this and a new R5 II is $2,261 — a year of lens glass. Watch for Canon refurbished sales, which occasionally match KEH pricing with a Canon warranty, but don't count on one materializing soon.
Pair it with: Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM at KEH for $2,329 EX 17. Total kit: ~$4,467 for a 45MP pro RF setup, which is still less than a new R5 Mark II body alone.
