The interesting part of 303 Redux is that its new release date hides an older life. Bhasmantam says the track was made with a TR-808 and TB-303, then found again in poor-quality form and improved with added percussion. The result is presented at 125 bpm, with the artist signing off on it simply as "Viva underground techno!" 1

That gives this week's pick a clear entry point: a track from a July 2026 release that is also an act of recovery. If you like acid's machine pulse but prefer music with visible seams, 303 Redux has a reason to exist beyond a genre tag.

Most of the useful context is already in the track's note. This is not a vague claim about vintage hardware or a retro mood. Bhasmantam names the machines, admits the recording was poor, and says percussion was added later. The 125 bpm marker makes the track easy to place in a set or a focused listening session, while the acid and underground-techno tags point toward a specific club-music lineage rather than generic electronic music. 1

The timing also matters. JULY arrived on July 17 with six tracks, but its centerpiece is not framed as a polished new production. It is an old recording brought back into circulation inside a fresh release. That tension makes the track more revealing than a clean nostalgia exercise: the point is not to imitate a 1990s acid record from scratch, but to let a damaged piece of personal history survive through a small repair.

The release is compact enough to test without making a large commitment. JULY is six tracks, and 303 Redux is 4:24. Start with the track, then decide whether you want the rest of the release's short run of techno, acid, trance, and electronic sketches. 2

Bhasmantam's page places the project in Venice, Italy and identifies the artist as Giuseppe Piol. The bio says Piol was active with underground techno, acid, deep trance, progressive, and hard-house releases during the 1990s, including work connected to D.F.C. Expanded Music, Muzak, Pinup, Spock, Bomba Records, Zyx, Rota Bene, Kalahari Oyster Cult, and Ultimo Tango. 3

The same bio lists several aliases: Bhasmantam, Juice, Havana, Ghouls, and Boy Bleach. The current page also makes the scale of the archive visible: Bandcamp lists 21 Bhasmantam releases, including JULY. That is the relevant background here. 303 Redux is not a first experiment with an acid vocabulary; it comes from a musician who describes a 1990s run across several adjacent underground dance styles, then revisits an older track with the tools and patience available now. 13

There is no precise start year or full discography history on the page, so the 1990s activity and the 21-release count are the firm limits of the available biography. That is enough to place the track without turning a sparse artist page into a mythology.

Listen for the relationship between the old recording and the newer intervention. The TR-808 and TB-303 are named as the track's starting hardware; the added percussion is the correction that lets the recovered material function as a present-tense release. The track's own description is more useful than a broad claim that it is "retro": it gives you a drum machine, a bassline synthesizer, a rough source recording, and a tempo. 1

After the single, continue through JULY if you want the surrounding frame. The track list moves through Icaro, Aquatic, Braindance, 303 Redux, North East, and Spectre, with the full release available to stream or download from Bandcamp. 2

Stream 303 Redux on Bandcamp. It is a four-minute acid-techno document from a six-track release, built from an old TR-808/TB-303 recording, later percussion, and a musician's stated attachment to underground techno. If the repaired edges appeal to you, let JULY run from the beginning. 12
