Denmark missed the World Cup. Norway made the quarter-finals. They open the Nations League in Oslo on Thursday.

Norway play Denmark in Oslo on Thursday, the opening night of the new Nations League season and Norway's first match in the competition's top division. Norway reached a World Cup quarter-final in July; Denmark watched that tournament from home.

Norway v Denmark at Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo, Thursday 24 September. Kickoff is 8.45pm in Oslo, 2.45pm ET, 11.45am PT. 1 It is the first matchday of the 2026/27 Nations League, and Norway's first in League A, the competition's top division. 2

Norway beat Brazil 2-1 in the round of 16 and lost the quarter-final 2-1 to England after extra time. 1 Erling Haaland scored seven goals at his first World Cup and has 62 in 55 appearances for Norway; he has opened this season with seven goals in seven games for Manchester City. 3

Denmark's absence was settled in March, when Czechia beat them 3-1 on penalties in the play-off final in Prague after a 2-2 draw. 4 Denmark were the only Scandinavian side to miss the tournament. Brian Riemer kept his job as coach, with a contract that runs to Euro 2028. 4 Christian Eriksen, their playmaker for a decade, last played on 7 June, when he collapsed during a friendly against Ukraine, and he left Wolfsburg by mutual consent on Wednesday. 5 Denmark are expected to start Rasmus Højlund up front, and have five players out injured, among them Andreas Christensen and Kasper Dolberg. 2

Verdict: Haaland at home against a Denmark this short should settle it, but Denmark are unbeaten in the last seven meetings with Norway, and Norway have gone eight games without a clean sheet. 2
