Google's AMIE can examine patients over live video

Google's AMIE research system can conduct real-time clinical video consultations, using three parallel agents to manage conversation, medical reasoning, and audio-visual perception. In Google's simulated study, 15 patient actors completed 300 consultations across 100 scenarios; 20 independent primary-care physicians evaluated the results. 1

Google reports that AMIE performed on par with primary-care physicians across diagnostic accuracy and core clinical competencies, while scoring higher on eliciting physical signs and guiding virtual examinations. The important limit is just as concrete: the study used professional actors, not real patients, and Google reports occasional perception, reasoning, and technical errors. 1
