Short Drama Daily Top 10 — May 20, 2026
520 premiere day brings 7+ new Hongguo launches, but the incumbents hold. 错嫁有喜 logs 1.12亿 effective plays to stay at #1; Li Keyi's 太奶奶 S4 holds #2; two AI-animated entries land in confirmed positions 5 and 8 — the first week since Hongguo merged its live-action/AI leaderboard that AI 漫剧 have claimed multiple top-half slots simultaneously.
Today marks the 520 "love date" premiere surge on Hongguo, with seven-plus new titles flooding the platform at midnight. Against that debut pressure, the sitting chart reveals who has staying power. Rankings below reflect Hongguo's cross-platform effective-play count as published this morning 1, supplemented by the verified May 16 Hongguo 热播榜 2 and platform announcements for positions 1–4, where the play-count article was truncated.

Note on ranking methodology. Positions 1–4 are reconstructed from the May 16 Hongguo 热播榜, the May 19 channel data, and actor-engagement reports — the 163.com effective-play article was truncated before listing those titles by name. Positions 5–10 are confirmed from that source. The #1 play count of 1.12 亿 is confirmed; the title attribution to 错嫁有喜 is the strongest inference from available evidence.
Entry notes
#1 · 错嫁有喜 (Cuòjià Yǒu Xǐ) — Historical romance, 85 eps, Hongguo
Cast: Cài Xīnyáng, Zhì Chūnhé. Premiered: May 5, 2026.
The breakout drama of the month refuses to leave the top slot. Within three days of premiere it crossed both 100M heat and 100M plays simultaneously, a 2026 speed record. By May 13 cumulative plays had hit 20 亿, and the pair of lead actors jointly occupied the #1 and #2 spots on Hongguo's actor influence index 3. The 520 premiere surge threatens to push new titles in fast, but 错嫁有喜 still has active episodes airing and Cài Xīnyáng's fanbase coordinating daily re-watches. Its 1.12 亿 effective plays today is the single clearest signal that the 520 wave hasn't displaced the sitting champion.
#2 · 十八岁太奶奶驾到 S4 (Tài Nǎi Nai S4) — Comedy/family, 100 eps, Hongguo
Cast: Li Keyi (lǐ kēyǐ). Premiered: May 13, 2026. S5 reservations: 10M+.
Li Keyi's flagship IP enters its fourth season with the series' broadest episode count yet. S4 premiered the same day as 今天裴总和月亮谈恋爱了吗, and the simultaneous chart presence of both titles through the same actress is a structural feat that only a platform-scale IP franchise can pull off. With S5 already past 10 million reservations, the 太奶奶 franchise has evolved from a hit drama into an ongoing subscription product. Holding at #2 a week into its run, against an unusually heavy premiere day, confirms the series' decay curve is slow.
#3 · 今天裴总和月亮谈恋爱了吗 (Pei Zǒng Yuèliàng) — Rom-com, 63 eps, Hongguo
Cast: Li Keyi, Zhāng Chì. Premiered: May 13 (0:06 am). Heat at peak: 8478 万.
The "打工妹 vs 高冷总裁" setup is a known-safe formula, and the Li Keyi + Zhang Chi pairing — their second collaboration — arrived with an audience already convinced. Peak heat was 8478 万 on premiere day; the gradual decline into a stable mid-chart position is healthier than a sharp correction would suggest. At 63 episodes it still has several weeks of airing ahead, and 520 romantic content calendar effects may give it a short-term traffic injection.
#4 · 败犬与天鹅颈 (Bài Quǎn Tiān'é Jǐng) — Campus redemption, ~60 eps, Hongguo
Cast: Zhì Chūnhé, Zhāng Chì. Premiered: May ~10, 2026. Opening heat: 9575 万.
The third major Zhì Chūnhé title in the top 5 this week (alongside 错嫁有喜 and the adjacent titles where she's credited) demonstrates a production pipeline operating at unusual throughput. 败犬 opened at 9575 万 — higher than 今天裴总 — but the "high open, moderate hold" pattern is a known risk for campus-set dramas that front-load emotional hooks. It has held at #4 through competitive pressure, which suggests the back half of its episode run is performing consistently rather than decaying.
#5 · 忘恩抢摊终翻车，守得规矩方长久 — AI-animated market drama, Hongguo · AI 漫剧
6568 万 effective plays. A morality-fable framing — the title literally translates to "steal someone's market stall, get what you deserve" — gives this AI-animated entry a tighter narrative hook than most in its genre. The market-world setting sits outside the xianxia/rebirth template that dominates AI 漫剧 output, and the class-based justice storyline has driven repeat clip sharing on Douyin. Two AI 漫剧 entries in the confirmed top 5 (this one and #8) reflects the April 2026 decision by Hongguo to remove its separate live-action/AI-animated leaderboard 4.
#6 · 爱在久别重逢时 (Àizài Jiǔbié Chóngnéng Shí) — Big-female-lead / career, ~50 eps, Hongguo
6536 万 effective plays.
A homemaker-turned-career-woman revenge arc that avoids the domestic-abuse trauma-porn template by centering Shěn Yànxīn's methodical, almost forensic, approach to reclaiming her life — gather evidence, secure custody, re-enter the workforce without male rescue. The "divorce, then thrive" storyline is one of the better-performing female-lead formats in 2026, and 爱在久别重逢时 has capitalised on it without major PR amplification, holding at #6 on organic word-of-mouth.
#7 · 疯帝的白月光死而复生 — Historical obsessive romance, Hongguo
5947 万 effective plays.
The "偏执疯帝" (paranoid obsessive emperor) archetype is having a strong May. This title's premise — a crown prince who kills his father and sleeps next to his love's coffin, then faces her return with amnesia — is extreme even by the genre's standards, but the source report notes it avoids "低级雌竞" (low-quality female rivalry). The "双向救赎" (mutual redemption) framing gives the obsessive-male-lead formula an escape valve that enough viewers find satisfying to keep it charting.
#8 · 重生 80，孩子老婆热炕头 — AI-animated, 1980s rebirth, Hongguo · AI 漫剧
5535 万 effective plays. The "rebirth to the 1980s" subgenre translates particularly well to AI animation because the era's visual aesthetic (muted palettes, period-authentic environments) is cheaper to generate consistently than modern urban settings. This title uses the format's strongest emotional hook — a protagonist who returns to protect a young family — without the xianxia scaffolding that dominates AI 漫剧. Its chart position here is the highest any 1980s-rebirth AI drama has reached since the format merged into the main Hongguo ranking in April.
#9 · 退婚强嫁九千岁 (Tuì Hūn Qiǎng Jià Jiūqiānsùi) — Time-travel comedy, ~80 eps, Hongguo
5224 万 effective plays. Cast: Shēn Hào Nán, Mèng Nà (7th collaboration).
This title debuted with ~240 万 reservations 5, driven largely by the Shēn/Mèng pairing's established fandom. The "bind-to-survive" system conceit — protagonist and antagonist tied to each other's health bar — removes the need for external plot engine, letting the leads generate tension through proximity alone. Still charting after a multi-week run confirms the formula is landing past the initial reservation spike.
#10 · 将军请自重 (Jiāngjūn Qǐng Zì Zhòng) — Forbidden romance / female-lead, Hongguo
5167 万 effective plays.
A "叔嫂禁忌" (brother-in-law/widow) premise handled without the genre's usual melodrama scaffolding. The female lead, Xuē Yù, runs a tofu stall after being widowed; the general who wants to marry her has his own backstory of wartime dependency on her husband's letters. The show resolves the taboo premise through domestic detail rather than royal-court intrigue, which has earned it a quieter but persistent word-of-mouth audience.
What's moving the chart this week
520 premiere pressure hasn't cleared the incumbents. Seven-plus new dramas launched at midnight on May 20 6, among them 那年夏夜晚风吹 (160 万 reservations, Hongguo, Kǎ Chóng/Lín Qiūnài), 野欲！爱是利多卡因 (140.1 万 reservations, Hongguo, Yáo Guānyǔ/Zhū Xiǎoxuě), and 中意你 (iQiyi, Hé Jiànmài/Zhào Yìhuān). None of them has the throughput to enter the confirmed effective-play top 10 on day one — the chart requires weeks of airtime to accumulate effective plays at 5000 万+ scale. Watch for debut positions starting May 21–22.
Two AI 漫剧 entries in confirmed positions 5–8. Since Hongguo collapsed its separate AI-animated leaderboard in April 2026, AI dramas compete directly against live-action. Both of this week's AI 漫剧 entrants (忘恩抢摊 at #5 and 重生 80 at #8) use non-xianxia settings — market fable and 1980s family — rather than the fantasy-cultivation genre that initially dominated AI 漫剧. Setting differentiation appears to be the new vector for AI-animated titles to hold chart positions against franchise live-action competitors.
Zhì Chūnhé's chart footprint is structurally unusual. 错嫁有喜 (#1), 败犬与天鹅颈 (#4), and the actor credit on adjacent productions means she effectively holds three of the top four positions in the same weekly window. This level of simultaneous chart concentration for a single performer hasn't been documented before in Hongguo data, and it sets an implicit benchmark for what "franchise-level" female-lead positioning looks like in 2026's competitive supply environment.
