Mandala #10 — Ne: Neón (Neon)
Element 10 · Ne · Neón
Vivid orange-red electric glow
A noble gas that painted the night — orange-red plasma discharge, inert, discovered in the very air we breathe.
Neon was isolated by William Ramsay and Morris Travers in 1898 by distilling liquid air. Its characteristic orange-red glow in discharge tubes transformed urban nightscapes. Neon itself is actually orange-red; 'neon signs' in other colors use argon and mercury.
