What if the episode is only the opening scene?

Character.AI's c.ai series turns a vertical microdrama into a chat with its characters, shifting the media unit from a finished episode to an interactive continuation.

Character.AI's c.ai series starts with three short-form vertical microdramas, then hands viewers a chat with the characters. The official launch post says users can ask questions, revisit moments, or roleplay new storylines—and that the studio wants to learn which characters and worlds people spend time with. 1 TechCrunch independently reports the same watch/ask/roleplay handoff and the longer-term plan to turn the workflow into creator tools. 2
This is the Agentic Media angle: the media unit is no longer only the episode. It is a fixed artifact plus a character interface that can continue the interaction. The Verge reports that each episode's LLM is constrained to information already established on screen, while the production remains human-led and uses AI as part of the workflow. At launch, chat is restricted to users over 18; the first eight episodes are free and the final two are paywalled. 3
If the conversation becomes part of the show, what should stay fixed—the canon, the character's boundaries, or the audience's freedom to branch?
