Sam's back, BJ's stacks, Costco waits: June 9–15 warehouse scorecard
Costco's new US coupon book doesn't activate until June 15 (the "June 8–July 5" book online is Canada-only). Sam's Club's 49-deal ISB launches today with the gas griddle at $249, Tide at $15.48, and Drumstick Cones at 29% off. BJ's digital coupon stacking wins tires with $160 off Michelin/Goodyear. Full category comparison, cherry-picker grab list, membership math (Sam's $25 promo expires June 15), and a Costco June 15 unlock preview.
If you've been checking Costco's savings page this week expecting the new coupon book, you're not alone — and you've been getting "Check Back Soon." Here's the situation: the "June 8–July 5" book circulating online is the Canadian flyer, not a US book. The US Member-Only Savings book runs June 15–July 19 and doesn't activate until Sunday. 1
That structural gap changes the math for this week entirely. Sam's Club's new Instant Savings Book (ISB) — Sam's monthly savings program where discounts auto-apply at checkout — launched 49 deals across grocery, household, health & beauty, outdoor, and more, going live today, June 10, after a 9-day gap week. 2 BJ's Wholesale Club (the East Coast-focused warehouse chain that competes directly with Costco and Sam's) abandoned the physical coupon book entirely in favor of app-only digital coupons — stackable with manufacturer coupons, no book-launch timing to wait for. 3
Short version for the time-pressed: Sam's or BJ's this week. Costco on Sunday.

Category breakdown
Food and beverages
Sam's wins on both verifiable price data and breadth. An Allrecipes price comparison across five heat-and-eat dinner types in Dallas put Sam's at $25.42/lb (cart total), compared to Costco's $26.95/lb and BJ's $31.04/lb — four of the five individual items were cheapest at Sam's. 5

The ISB grocery lineup leans heavily summer-party: Bush's Baked Beans 8-pack goes from $11.48 to $9.48 ($2 off), 2 and Nestlé Drumstick Ice Cream Cones 16-count drop to $7.46 ($3 off, 29% off). 2 Kraft Mac & Cheese 18-pack (7.25 oz boxes) falls to $10.96 ($4 off, 27% off) — the 18-pack is fine for families but a lot for a household of 1–2; consider splitting a box with a neighbor. 2
On beverages, Bai Coconut Water 15-pk (18 oz) at $14.98 ($5 off, 25%) is the strongest percentage-off drink deal this week. 2 Celsius On The Go Sticks 30-pack: $12.98 ($4 off). 2
Over at BJ's, Cape Cod Kettle Chips 28 oz clocks in at $4.49 (down 35% from $6.99) — solid barbecue snack without locking you into a Costco-scale bag. 6 Ball Park Beef Hot Dogs 24-ct: $7.99 after a $3 digital coupon clip (through June 14). 6
Costco's active food items this week are four short-run flash deals (Kirkland USDA Prime Bone-In Ribeye at $15.99/lb, Kirkland Raw Shrimp starting at $5.99/lb), valid June 8–14 only. 7 The ribeye is genuinely competitive if you catch it today or tomorrow.
Household consumables
Sam's leads on laundry and dish this week with confirmed full pricing.
- Tide Liquid Laundry 128 oz (100 loads): $15.48 ($4 off, $0.15/load) 2
- Finish Quantum Dishwasher Tablets 90-ct: $16.98 ($5 off, $0.19/load) 2
- Dawn Platinum Dish Soap 3-pack (61.5 oz total): $7.98 ($2 off) 2
- Scott 1000 Toilet Paper 45-roll (4,896 sq ft): $25.48 ($5 off, $0.05/sq ft) 2
The Scott 45-roll and Snuggle Fabric Softener 176 oz (259 loads) at $9.98 are large-format buys that make sense for households of 3+ or anyone with storage. Single/couple households: the Dawn 3-pack and Finish 90-ct are genuinely usable quantities.
BJ's counters with coupon stacking on scent boosters: Downy or Gain Scent Booster Beads (34–39.9 oz) can combine a $6 BJ's app coupon on two units with a $2 manufacturer coupon on one Downy unit — two-layer savings with no price floor on the final price published. 3 Berkley Jensen Scrub Sponges 27-ct stack a $2 BJ's digital + $1.50 manufacturer coupon. 3
Costco's paper and cleaning deals (Bounty Advanced 12-roll $5.60 off, Tide Pods $5 off, Lysol Wipes 4-pack $10.99) don't activate until June 15. 1 Wait for Sunday if you can.
Health and beauty
Sam's wins this week on H&B breadth: 11 confirmed or likely deals launched today.
- Dove Men+Care Bar Soap 14-ct (3.75 oz bars): $11.98 ($3.50 off, 23% off) 2
- Crest Pro-Health Toothpaste 5-pack (5.8 oz): $11.98 ($4 off, 25% off) 2
- MONDAY Haircare Smooth Shampoo + Conditioner set 68 oz total: $16.87 ($5 off, 23% off) 2
- Member's Mark Sunscreen SPF 50 Spray 3-pack (9.1 oz each): $13.67 ($3 off) 2
- OLAY Niacinamide Moisturizer: $8 off, limit 3 — final price unconfirmed at publication time 8
On the Costco side, Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer (-$5), Neutrogena Hydroboost 2-pack ($21.99), and a wide OTC supplement lineup (Advil -$5, Tylenol Rapid Release -$4.50) all activate June 15. 1 BJ's Optical runs BOGO eyeglasses (in-club) and 30% off Rx frames through June 14 — that window closes Saturday. 9
Electronics and kitchen
BJ's digital-coupon model means its stacking deals are live every single day — no book-drop to wait for. The official BJ's Summer Event is running through June 15:
Loading content card…
Electronics is Costco's strongest suit, and this category is worth waiting until June 15 for. The incoming book includes TCL 65-inch TV at $529.99, Samsung 55-inch TV at $399.99, Dyson V15 at -$220, and an appliance bundle deal (Whirlpool, Samsung, LG, Maytag, Electrolux) saving $100 per 2 appliances and $200 per 3, with delivery and installation. 1
Sam's scores two solid summer crossovers: the Shark ChillPill 2-in-1 rechargeable handheld fan with dry mist cooling drops to $99.98 ($30 off $129.98) and is available right now through July 5. 10 The Samsonite Lineate XLT 2-piece hardside luggage set is $159 ($40 off $199). 10
Tires
BJ's wins tires this week — and it's not particularly close.
| Chain | Deal | Value |
|---|---|---|
| BJ's | Cooper Endeavor / Kelly tires: buy 3, get 1 free | 25% off the set |
| BJ's | Michelin + installation | $160 off |
| BJ's | Goodyear + installation | $160 off |
| BJ's | All tire purchases | 3× Rewards points |
| Costco | 4 tires | $80 off (activates June 15) |
BJ's is running promotions across 10 tire brands (Michelin, BFGoodrich, Goodyear, Nexen, Uniroyal, Kelly, Firestone, Cooper, Hankook, Sumitomo) simultaneously. 4 Costco's $80-off-four deal activates Sunday and covers its warehouse tire center — worth comparing against BJ's at that point, especially for Michelin buyers where BJ's $160-off stacks with installation. 1 Sam's has no verified tire promotion this cycle.
Travel and gas
Costco Travel dominates this category as the only chain offering full-package vacation bundles (flights + hotel + member extras). Sixteen hot-buy packages are live right now: the Puerto Rico Sheraton deal (value: $220 in extras) expires Thursday, June 12; multiple Caribbean and European packages run through June 14–30. 11 Sam's Club provides hotel bookings and Go City attraction passes (e.g., the Paris All-Inclusive Pass covering 55+ sights), but no bundled flight+hotel+extras packages at this level. BJ's Travel (travel.bjs.com) centers on cruise discounts — members can save up to $1,000 on select Royal Caribbean sailings.
On gas, the national AAA average sat at $4.16/gallon as of June 8. 12 Warehouse club stations typically run 10–30 cents below local market prices, with Sam's Club in Florida running $3.56/gallon (35 cents below the state AAA average of $3.91). 12 Sam's Plus members with a Sam's Club MasterCard can stack additional cash back on top of the pump price. BJ's Perks Plus members get a standard 5–10 cents/gallon discount, with the potential for further stack-savings via the BJ's MasterCard. 12
Cherry-picker's route: June 9–15
Go to Sam's Club first. The ISB just launched and the floor is fully stocked. Confirmed grab list:
- Bai Coconut Water 15-pk → $14.98
- Tide Liquid 128 oz → $15.48
- Finish Quantum 90-ct → $16.98
- Nestlé Drumstick Cones 16-ct → $7.46 (households of 1–2: fine quantity)
- Dove Men+Care Soap 14-ct → $11.98 (1–2 person household: 14 bars lasts months)
- MONDAY Haircare 68 oz set → $16.87
- Shark ChillPill fan → $99.98
Then BJ's (or the app) for tires, Optical BOGO through Saturday, or coupon-stacking on Downy and Berkley Jensen sponges. Stack the BJ's Summer Event coupon (up to $50 back) on the same trip. 13
Hold on Costco for electronics, Bounty, and supplements — activates Sunday June 15.
Membership math
| Membership | Annual fee | Upgrade tier | Break-even (upgrade) | Current promo |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sam's Club | $60/yr (Club) | Plus $120/yr | ~$3,000/yr spend | $25 Club / $55 Plus — expires June 15 |
| BJ's Wholesale | $60/yr (Club Card) | Perks Plus $120/yr | ~$3,000/yr spend | $14–$20/yr via third-party (StackSocial/MarketWatch) — expires July 6 |
| Costco | $65/yr (Gold Star) | Executive $130/yr | ~$3,250/yr spend (Executive) | $20 digital gift card for new Gold Star members |
Sam's Club $25 promotion closes in 6 days (June 15). This applies to new members and anyone lapsed more than 6 months. 14 Sam's Plus at $55 (regular $120) is hard to beat for anyone who spends more than $500/year on groceries and household goods — the 2% Sam's Cash alone covers the fee before you hit $3,000 in spend.
The BJ's Perks Plus (BJ's premium tier at $120/yr, which includes 2% rewards and a 5-cent/gallon gas discount) break-even is around $3,000/year in spend — similar to Sam's Plus. Third-party channels currently offer a BJ's Club Card membership for $14–$20/year: MyBJsWholesale cites $14 via StackSocial through July 6, while MarketWatch reported $20 via the same channel in late May. 15 Either way, the lowest-ever entry price into the coupon-stacking model — verify the current rate before checkout.
One more forward note: June 17–26, Sam's Club in-store locations will offer a Club membership for $8 — the lowest price since 2022. Useful for anyone who wants to add Sam's Club access just in time for the rest of the ISB run.
Next week: Costco unlocks June 15
The June 15–July 19 book covers 125+ items. Headline items to prioritize on Sunday:
- Bounty Advanced 12-roll: -$5.60
- Liquid I.V. (including sugar-free): $20.99 (-$8)
- Dyson V15: -$220
- Tide Pods: -$5 (compare with Sam's Tide Liquid at $0.15/load)
- 4 tires: -$80 (compare with BJ's $160 off Michelin at that point)
- T-Mobile switch: save $450
Sam's ISB runs through July 5, BJ's digital coupons roll continuously — so June 15 is when real three-way competition kicks in. For this week, the score stands: Sam's Club and BJ's 1, Costco 0.
