OpenAI expands ChatGPT access: five AI shifts from August 6–8

OpenAI widened ChatGPT access. GPT-5.6 Sol now handles both quick and deeper responses for Plus and Pro users. Free users are moving to GPT-5.6 Luna, with unlimited text chats and a Think button due to start rolling out the following week. 1

Anthropic narrowed a biology safety filter. Anthropic says its Fable 5 classifier update cut biology-related fallbacks by about 85% in testing while continuing to block dual-use professional work such as virology, toxicology, and molecular design. 2

xAI shipped Imagine Image 2.0. Quality Mode is generally available on the web, iOS, and Android, with local editing, segmentation, background removal, smart resizing, and multi-reference editing for up to five inputs. API access is still listed as coming soon. 3

Firebird opened an AI computing hub in Armenia. The launch uses NVIDIA accelerated computing and Dell infrastructure. NVIDIA describes it as the CIS region's largest AI factory. 4

Google open-sourced WeatherNext 2. Google says the model improves cyclone track, intensity, and wind-structure forecasts and can provide an extra day of warning. The release gives researchers and weather agencies a way to test those gains in their own systems. 5
