Cutoff
At 6:00 p.m. PDT Friday, Vancouver was mainly sunny at 20.7°C. The verified developments below include a fresh Vancouver arrest update, newly quantified wildfire losses outside Metro Vancouver, and an expanded U.S.-Iran infrastructure exchange. 1
Metro Vancouver
Vancouver was mainly sunny at 6 p.m.
Environment Canada recorded 20.7°C, mainly sunny conditions, southeast winds at 10 km/h, 63% humidity and 101.7 kPa pressure at Vancouver International Airport at exactly 6:00 p.m. PDT. Its overnight forecast called for partly cloudy conditions, becoming cloudy near midnight, with a 30% chance of drizzle and a low of 15°C. 1
VPD reports arrest on older aggravated-assault warrant
Vancouver police said Thursday afternoon they arrested a 54-year-old man in Vancouver on an outstanding warrant tied to an aggravated-assault charge from June 2023. Police allege the offence occurred in Langley on June 9, 2023. VPD said David Scholten remained in custody awaiting a bail hearing; the allegation has not been tested in court. 2

Wildfire damage confirmed near Boston Bar
The Fraser Valley Regional District confirmed seven buildings, including four homes or seasonal cabins, destroyed by wildfire near Boston Bar, according to a CBC report published at 4:15 p.m. PDT. CBC reported that the two fires making up the Brunswick complex remained out of control, with a speed reduction in place on Highway 1 near Boston Bar. 3
The same report said B.C. had 62 active wildfires as of 1:30 p.m. PDT Friday, including 43 that started in the previous 24 hours; 38 were suspected to have been caused by lightning. Those figures are attributed to B.C. Wildfire Service through CBC, not a live 6 p.m. dashboard count. 3
Near Pemberton, the Village's 12:15 p.m. update, revised at 1:00 p.m., said the evacuation alert for parts of the village and the evacuation order for One Mile Lake Park were unchanged. Highway 99 was open, and the village said crews were continuing work on the Signal Hill wildfire. 4

U.S.-Iran strikes widen to regional infrastructure
An AP report updated at 5:34 p.m. PDT said the United States had expanded its air campaign by hitting more bridges in Iran's southern Hormozgan province and collapsing a tower at Chabahar port on the Gulf of Oman. AP said the U.S. military later confirmed the Chabahar strike. Iranian casualty figures in the report were attributed to Iranian state media and authorities and were not independently confirmed. 5
A separate Reuters report updated at 3:47 p.m. PDT said Iran responded by hitting a power and desalination plant in Kuwait. Kuwaiti authorities said the facility was damaged and caught fire, with a large number of generating units taken offline, Reuters reported. Other maritime attack claims in the report were attributed to Iranian media and remained independently unconfirmed. 6
Watchlist
- Signal Hill wildfire: Watch for any change to the Pemberton evacuation alert, the One Mile Lake Park order or Highway 99 conditions. 4
- Boston Bar fires: The Brunswick complex remains out of control in the latest report, while structure-loss assessments may continue as conditions allow. 3
- Gulf infrastructure and shipping: Monitor official and wire-service updates for independently confirmed damage or vessel incidents after the latest U.S.-Iran exchange. 6
