A quiet Wednesday on the secondary market: across 22+ platform probes, only one new listing surfaced — a sealed copy of the 76958 Jurassic World Dilophosaurus Ambush on eBay, flagged as "New Listing, Brand New Sealed Retired." Mercari, Vinted, and Depop returned no indexed results in the window (consistent with every run to date). The individual listing price wasn't recoverable due to eBay's anti-scraping protection, but the price benchmarks are solid enough to give you a clear buy target.

Two items of note on the pricing intelligence front: the 10327 Dune Atreides Royal Ornithopter conflict from yesterday is now resolved, and 21348 D&D Red Dragon's Tale has narrowed enough to be actionable. Both are covered in the Price Intel section below.

Small sets rarely hold this kind of trajectory. The Dilophosaurus Ambush was released in March 2023 as part of the Jurassic Park 30th Anniversary wave, carried a $19.99 MSRP, and retired at the end of 2024 after a shelf life of about 20 months. PriceCharting and BrickEconomy converge tightly at $45 for sealed copies — a reliable signal that the sealed-copy premium is real and not one source's anomaly. BrickRanker's lower $33.62 reflects built and open copies pulling the 6-month average down.

The set's appreciation is almost entirely driven by one minifigure: Dennis Nedry in his Dark Blue Undershirt variant (catalog code jw106). This version of Nedry — the saboteur from the original 1993 film — does not appear in any other LEGO set1. The Dilophosaurus itself is a standard molded dinosaur figure, not a rarity driver. The Jurassic Park 30th Anniversary window was relatively brief, keeping total supply low — BrickRanker records 265 sales since the June 2023 release, a thin secondary market for a $20 retail set1.

Buy target for today's eBay listing. The individual listing price was not recoverable (eBay anti-scraping), so treat $33–$38 as a fair range for a complete built copy, and $42–$47 as fair for sealed. Anything sealed below $40 is below the triangulated market average and worth acting on. Above $55 sealed, you're paying above BrickEconomy's estimate with no data to justify the premium.

Authentication tips. The Dennis Nedry minifigure is the primary target. Check: (1) Torso printing — genuine has crisp diagonal stripes and the "Hello, I'm to blame" badge in fine detail; budget fakes flatten the stripe detail into blurry blocks. (2) The head piece — Nedry's face uses a specific mold with two-sided printing (nervous expression front, alarmed expression back); a single-sided head is a copy tell. (3) The Dilophosaurus — a factory-molded piece with fine spine detailing on the frill; clones sometimes show visible mold seam lines on the frill edges. (4) Because this is a small 211-piece set, a "sealed" listing that feels notably light (under ~350g with packaging) warrants caution — the box is small, so part-stripped reseals are feasible.

Yesterday's data had a 68% spread between BrickRanker ($98) and PriceCharting sealed ($165), making any buy signal unreliable. That conflict is now resolved: PriceCharting's "sealed" price from May 19 was anomalous, likely mixing condition levels. Today's comparison is BrickRanker $98.14 vs. PriceCharting Complete $100.00 — a 2% spread45.

The Ornithopter (2,369 pieces, MSRP $164.99) is still available at retail and retiring July 31, 2026. At ~$98 on the secondary market vs. $164.99 retail, the secondary price reflects buyers selling before retirement rather than post-retirement scarcity setting in. BrickEconomy's 5-year projection ($232–$256) assumes post-retirement appreciation, not a current market value6. The cleaner read: if you want the set, retail is still the right channel at $164.99 — secondary market is actively below retail, meaning no buy-the-dip logic applies yet. The previous BrickEconomy spread ($360–$406 vs. BrickRanker $300, a 35% gap) has resolved at the source level: BrickEconomy's current page shows only a 5-year projection ($475–$526), not a current value, meaning the prior comparison was partly between current-market data and projection data. The two current-market sources — BrickRanker $299.68 and PriceCharting Complete $290.00 — now agree within 3%78.

At a market average of ~$295, it is trading 18% below its original retail price — an unusual position for a 3,700-piece Ideas set 17 months post-retirement. The two sets with the strongest post-retirement case remain the AT-TE Walker (Commander Cody exclusive, 1,082 pieces, −20%) and the Zelda Great Deku Tree (first-ever Zelda license, Link and Zelda exclusives, −14%). The Art series sets (Hokusai −24%, Mona Lisa −38%) are the deepest discounts in the wave but carry lower minifigure scarcity — appreciation post-retirement is driven more by build appeal and piece count than by collector demand for a specific figure.

The 76328 Classic TV Batmobile retains its unresolved 46% spread between PriceCharting Complete ($114.35) and BrickEconomy ($167.34), with BrickRanker sitting between both at $133.78151614. Low sales volume (45 recorded) is driving the disagreement. It remains a watch-and-wait position.
