Trim returns, plus a streaming cancel flow (2026)

Trim is back under a new name, but it does not get a clean green light.

My verdict is CAUTION for OneMain MyMoney, the service formerly known as Trim. The official homepage says "Trim is now OneMain MyMoney," and the product still advertises subscription tracking, subscription cancellation, bill negotiation, spending insights, and bank-fee refund help. 1 The problem is the part that matters before you hand over a bill: the official homepage and Terms of Service do not publish a clear bill-negotiation fee percentage. 1 2

The better do-it-yourself move this week is streaming. For streaming bills, the retention department is usually not a phone queue. The offer either appears in the cancellation flow or arrives by email after you cancel. Peacock, HBO Max, Hulu, Disney bundle, and Paramount+ all have documented discount reports; Netflix and Amazon Prime Video are the two names to stop trying to negotiate. 3 4 5

Universal opener: "I am trying to keep this service, but the current price is no longer worth it. If there is a retention offer, I will review it now; otherwise I am cancelling today."

That line works as a chat message if the site opens a chat box. More often, it is a decision rule for your own clicking: do not beg, do not threaten, and do not back out unless the offer is real.

Part 1: OneMain MyMoney: caution

What the official record says

OneMain MyMoney is not the old standalone Trim brand. The site identifies the operator as OneMain Trim, LLC, and the Terms of Service list an effective date of September 1, 2025. 2 The homepage says the service can connect accounts, show recurring subscriptions, cancel subscriptions for free, negotiate bills, and surface personalized money insights. 1

That is the useful part. The missing part is pricing. OneMain MyMoney's official pages do not disclose a public bill-negotiation fee table, a flat annual price, or a customer-access rule for non-OneMain users. 1 2

The fee is now a percentage, but the percentage is fuzzy

Current third-party reviews point to a success-fee model, but they do not agree on the percentage. MillennialMoney says Trim takes 15% of total yearly savings after a successful negotiation and charges that fee up front. 6 FinanceBuzz also describes a 15% success fee. 7 Rocket Money, a competitor source, describes Trim as charging 15% to 33% of first-year savings. 8 Gerald says the fee is typically around 33%. 9

That spread changes the decision. At 15%, OneMain MyMoney is meaningfully cheaper than Rocket Money's published 35% to 65% bill-negotiation fee range. 8 At 33%, it is still below Rocket Money's high end, but it is no longer the obvious bargain.

The access rule is just as important. Orbit Money says the "big catch" is that users cannot access cancellation or bill negotiation unless they are members of Clearway or OneMain, and that those users get the services for free. 10 FinanceBuzz says OneMain and Brightway customers get free access, but it does not settle whether non-customers can still use paid bill negotiation. 7 If you are not already in OneMain's ecosystem, confirm access before connecting accounts.

The outcomes are real enough to test, not strong enough to trust blindly

Trustpilot shows current activity. OneMain MyMoney had 2,529 reviews, a 4.7/5 rating, a 4.5 TrustScore, and 414 reviews in the prior 12 months. 11 Trustpilot also says the company invites reviews and replies to 100% of negative reviews within 48 hours, so the rating should be read as a review-site signal, not as an independent audit. 11

The positive reports are still useful. A July 2, 2026 Trustpilot reviewer wrote, "This program saved me just under $400 a year," and a July 3 reviewer said the service reviews utility bills, cell phone, and internet each year and saves "hundreds and hundreds of dollars." 11 Other June 2026 Trustpilot reviews said OneMain MyMoney lowered a cell phone bill, reduced a Comcast bill, and negotiated a cable bill. 11

The negative reports explain why this is not a full recommend. A June 24, 2026 reviewer named Kathy said she received a one-time credit of about $14, then saw a bill of $131 and change, which she said was higher than before. 12 A January 30, 2026 reviewer said the service only got a one-time $20 credit. 12 Some negative reviews also target OneMain's loan business, which makes the bill-negotiation signal noisy. 12

Before using OneMain MyMoney, send one message to support or check the in-app disclosure screen: "What percentage of first-year savings will you charge if this bill is reduced, and can I use bill negotiation as a non-OneMain customer?" If the answer is vague, run the streaming cancel-flow first. It costs nothing.

Part 2: The streaming cancel-flow script

First, sort your services

Streaming retention is not evenly distributed. Use this table before clicking cancel.

Step 1: Pick one service you can actually lose

Start with the service you use least among Peacock, HBO Max, Hulu, Disney bundle, or Paramount+. Do not start with Netflix if you are trying to practice, because Netflix is documented as a no-discount cancellation path. 5

Step 2: Use a desktop browser

Log in on a desktop browser, then go to Account, Subscription, and Cancel Subscription. Peacock reports describe offers appearing after users click through multiple cancel prompts. 3

If a chat box opens, paste the universal opener: "I am trying to keep this service, but the current price is no longer worth it. If there is a retention offer, I will review it now; otherwise I am cancelling today."

Step 3: Click through the first hesitation screen

Do not stop at the first "Are you sure?" screen. A Peacock user wrote, "After going through cancel multiple prompts they proposed a 50% discount for a year." 3 A Hulu user wrote, "Hulu offered me $2.99 for 6 months for their basic package," after canceling Hulu Live TV after the Super Bowl. 13

When an offer appears, read three fields before accepting: monthly price, duration, and whether the plan tier changes. A cheap ad-supported plan is not the same product as an ad-free plan.

Step 4: Know when full cancellation is the tactic

HBO Max and Disney bundle offers may appear after cancellation rather than before it. CableTV.com documented an HBO Max email offer of $8.49/month for 6 months and a Disney+ and Hulu email offer of $4.99/month for 3 months. 4

Use this closing line if no offer appears: "I am cancelling now and will reconsider if a better monthly offer arrives before my next billing cycle."

Check your current plan first. CableTV.com warns that legacy Disney Bundle subscribers can lose grandfathered pricing if they cancel. 4 If you have a legacy bundle you cannot recreate, skip the experiment.

Step 5: Save the offer details

Take a screenshot of the final confirmation page, the discounted monthly price, the number of months, and the renewal price. Paramount+ is the reason to be strict: r/Frugal users described inconsistent outcomes, with one person getting 50% off for a year and another getting nothing. 14

Set a calendar reminder for seven days before the discounted period ends. A temporary retention price becomes a price hike if you forget the renewal date.

Anti-patterns that backfire

Do not use chat support as your main path. The strongest reports show the offer inside the cancel-flow UI or in a post-cancel email, not from a regular support chat. 3 4

Do not wait until the day after renewal. Most streaming services keep access active through the end of the paid billing period after cancellation, so the clean move is to cancel before the renewal date rather than ask for a refund afterward. 4

Do not lock into an annual plan just because the monthly price annoys you. Apple TV+ annual pricing saves about 36% versus monthly, and Amazon Prime annual pricing saves about 23% versus monthly, but those are annual-plan decisions rather than retention wins. 16

Do not hoard services waiting for discounts. One r/cordcutters user put the right rule plainly: "You are in control, don't wait for a retention deal... decide if it's worth keeping something and let go of the stuff you barely use." 13

Savings calculator

Use a conservative target of $20 to $50/month if you run the cancel flow across 3 to 4 streaming services. Hulu's reported $2.99/month retention price saves about $9/month against the current $11.99/month with-ads price, Peacock's 50% offer can save roughly $5.50 to $8.50/month against current plan prices, and HBO Max's half-off style offer saves roughly $5.50 to $9.25/month depending on tier. 3 13 16

The OneMain rows use the Trustpilot self-report of "just under $400 a year" as a sample outcome and the current third-party fee range of 15% to about 33%. 6 9 11 If your OneMain fee disclosure is higher than expected, skip the service and run the streaming flow first.
