Anthropic upgrades Claude Design with brand controls and Claude Code handoff
Anthropic updated Claude Design with design-system imports, Claude Code sync, direct canvas editing, and new export destinations. The brief explains why this product update matters for enterprise workflows even though it is not a new model launch.

Anthropic has pushed a new Claude Design update that ties the visual-design tool more tightly to Claude Code and adds enterprise brand controls. The June 17 product announcement says Claude Design now works across company design systems, syncs with Claude Code, supports direct canvas editing, and exports to a larger set of third-party design and app-building tools.1
What happened
Claude Design is Anthropic's beta tool for creating designs, prototypes, presentations, and similar visual work inside Claude. The new release moves it closer to a production workflow rather than a prompt-to-mockup toy. Anthropic says more than one million people used Claude Design in its first week, giving the company enough usage signal to rebuild parts of the product around repeat work and team standards.1
The most practical change is design-system import. Teams can now bring in one or several design systems from GitHub repositories, design files, or raw uploads. Claude is supposed to build with those components, check output against the design system, and correct mismatches before showing the result. Larger teams also get a new admin role that can approve a standard design system and lock down edits.1
Anthropic is also making Claude Design and Claude Code work in both directions. Designers can use
/design-sync to pull a design system into Claude Design, then hand a design to Claude Code when it is ready to become software. Developers can start from Claude Code with /design, import a design into a codebase, turn code into a live prototype, or let Claude run the design-to-code loop from the terminal.1Why it matters
This is not a model launch. It is a distribution move. Anthropic is trying to make Claude harder to dislodge from daily product work by connecting the places teams already design, present, prototype, and ship. The announcement names Adobe, Base44, Canva, Gamma, Lovable, Miro, Replit, Vercel, and Wix as export or connector destinations.1
For enterprise buyers, the brand-control layer matters as much as the code handoff. Anthropic's help documentation says Claude Design is available in beta to Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans, but is off by default for Enterprise customers and can be managed through organization settings. The same guide says projects can inherit an organization's design system and be shared inside the organization.2
The broader read: Anthropic is using Claude Code as the anchor for a wider work suite. After the Fable 5 and Mythos 5 shutdown pulled attention back to model access and regulation, this release points to a quieter path for growth: make Claude part of the handoff between brand assets, UI drafts, code, and the tools where teams already finish the job.
