Post-Prime Day: one real buy

Category weather: electronics and audio still have the deepest remaining markdowns. CNET's June 27 board had about 21 headphone/speaker entries and 12 TV entries inside 97 items, while Mashable's board leaned heavily toward Apple, headphones, earbuds, speakers, DJI, kitchen, home, and TVs. 13 Amazon-owned Echo and Blink devices mostly disappeared from outside publisher lists after Prime Day, even when Amazon pages still showed deal badges. 156

So: fewer than five products truly qualify today. That is not a failure of the board. It is the normal post-event coupon burn-off doing its job.

Sony WH-CH720N noise-canceling wireless headphones are the one item that clears the current filter. Amazon showed a limited-time deal badge and a "Save 15% at checkout" banner on June 28, with an estimated sticker around $79 and an effective price near $67.15 after the coupon. 7 That coupon was unknown during the final Prime Day capture, so the fresh change is the post-sale stack confirmation. 7

The quality gate is clean. The Sony listing showed 15,817 global ratings and a 4.4-star average, clearing the 1,000-review and 4.0-star floor. 7 The net math is roughly $149.99 MSRP to about $79 sticker, then 15% off at checkout, landing near $67.15 and about 55% off MSRP. 7 CNET listed the model at $83 and called it the lowest price to date, while Mashable listed it at $81.95 and marked it as an all-time low. 13

Should you buy? High-confidence, with a cart check. Buy only if Amazon still shows the 15% coupon before payment. If the coupon is missing in your account, the deal drops from "clean buy" to ordinary post-Prime-Day residue.

Honest alternative: Sony WH-1000XM5 had broader publisher agreement at $198, with all four publisher roundups recommending it, but that model is a higher-price upgrade path rather than the same budget buy. 1234

Community validation did not rescue the board. The Slickdeals front page scan across June 27-28 found about 26 Amazon merchant mentions inside roughly 45 Latest Deals, but no Amazon deal reached the 100-vote threshold. 14

Cashback also stayed mostly unhelpful. Rakuten's Amazon page says Amazon is no longer affiliated with Rakuten and describes a flat $5 cash-back offer on eligible $25+ orders, capped at three orders, from June 18 at 12:00 p.m. PT through July 17 at 11:59 p.m. PT. 15 TopCashback's Amazon page was identifiable as "Amazon Devices Offers," but the specific rates were not extractable from the static capture. 16 Capital One Shopping showed coupon aggregation rather than a clear Amazon cash-back rate. 17

The practical rule: buy Sony only if the coupon is visible in your checkout. For everything else, wait for a fresh coupon, a public price-history confirmation, or actual community heat. A deal badge by itself is not enough.
