2026 changelog — what changed this year

Several programs quietly tightened their terms in late 2025 or early 2026. If you enrolled before and expect the same experience, read this section first.

Downgrades and new restrictions confirmed

Starbucks — purchase history now required Previously, any registered Starbucks Rewards member could claim a birthday drink regardless of purchase history. As of January 2026, the program now requires at least one Star-earning transaction before the birthday reward activates 13 19. One purchase — any amount — clears this requirement.

Crumbl Cookies — Silver tier (~$40/year) now required The birthday cookie was previously available to all loyalty members with no spend threshold. As of late 2025, Crumbl requires Silver loyalty status, which takes roughly $40 in annual purchases to reach 6 13. Enforcement appears inconsistent — at least one Bronze-tier user received a birthday text link in April 2026 anyway — but do not plan on it.

Chili's — free birthday lava cake replaced by birthday scoop My Chili's Rewards still advertises "free birthday dessert," but the lava cake is reportedly gone; what arrives in 2026 is a scoop of vanilla ice cream with chocolate fudge or caramel 15. Auntie Anne's — program reliability in question Two independent users in late 2025 reported receiving no birthday pretzel reward despite having active accounts — one said she had an account "forever," the other had made a purchase that year and still got nothing 6.
