Founded 1963 in Amarillo by a trucker named Roy who got tired of stopping for bad food and decided to sell hand pies out of a converted fuel depot instead.

By 1978 he had 400 locations. By 1991, 1,800.

Slide 5 — Classified Lore Every Driveline location was built exactly 0.4 miles from the nearest on-ramp. No exceptions. One franchisee measured wrong by 0.01 miles in 1971. The lease was voided overnight. The building sat empty for six years. Roy never explained the rule.
