5 more IKEA picks this week: a pull-out desk, a rechargeable lamp, and a stool that clunks when you raise it

Last week's issue covered the IKEA PS 2026 launch — the inflatable chair, the birdhouse nightstand, the rattan storage ottoman. 1 This week: five more items worth your attention, including one that has nothing to do with PS 2026 at all.

Best for: Small apartments where a dedicated desk corner is out of the question

IKEA quietly added the LANGDHOPP to its US lineup in mid-May 2026 — no collection fanfare, no designer spotlight. It's a wall-console table that, when you need a full workspace, slides out a second lower tier from underneath. 2 The name (Långdhopp — Swedish for "long jump") makes sense once you see the extension mechanism.

Dimensions: 34¼" tall × 35⅜" wide × 15⅜" deep as a console, extending to 28⅜" deep when the pull-out tier is fully out. 2 The top shelf takes up to 110 lb; the pull-out lower tier 44 lb — enough for a monitor or a second laptop, not just a notebook. One confirmed reviewer, Ricarda, called it "small but powerful" and noted it "fits in almost any space." 3

The article number is 30587080 and it comes in white.

Most adjustable stools hide the mechanism. The PS 2026 stool by Mikael Axelsson makes the mechanism the product. A bright blue wedge-shaped lever wraps around the middle of the stool: pull it upward to unlock, slide the base up or down to one of four positions, release. The mechanism is inspired by traditional Swedish woodworking clamps called Tvingman. 4 Axelsson specifically made the locking latch oversized so it's obvious to anyone sitting near it. His four children were the first usability test: "They were immediately curious, asking 'what happens if I pull this?'" 4

Ola Wihlborg's folding table is 156 × 75 cm (61⅜" × 29½") — a full four-person dining table that collapses flat when not in use, held in folded position by its signature red butterfly wing-nuts. 12 The global IKEA newsroom called it "a solid wood dining table that folds flat when it is not needed, despite its solid construction that looks anything but temporary." 8

Pink powder-coated steel grid, tempered glass doors, integrated cable port at the back — the PS 2026 glass-door cabinet is equal parts display case and cable box. 9 Designed by Ola Wihlborg, it's 73 × 36 × 160 cm (28½" × 14⅛" × 63⅛") — tall enough to take a router, a USB hub, chargers, and a few books on the upper shelves, without dominating the room. The lock hole on the handle is pre-drilled: add any standard padlock if you prefer your charging setup stays untouched.

WIRED flagged it as one of the collection's WFH standouts, citing the adjustable shelves and the cable cut-out at the back that lets you keep devices charging out of sight. 14 Article 806.169.52.
