Pick 1.01 — Jordan Pickford, GK, Everton

"Wide receiver. Route runner. Moves like a lottery pick out of College Park. Tuchel did NOT need to think about this one. That's an automatic bid, folks."

Round 2 — The Core Rotation

Pick 2.01 — Reece James, DEF, Chelsea

"The right tackle protecting the franchise QB. Injury history? Sure. But when James is healthy? That is a Pro Bowl-caliber blocker on your right side. Tuchel rolls the dice."

Pick 2.02 — Marc Guéhi, DEF, Manchester City

"Interior defensive lineman — quiet, reliable, doesn't freelance. Just sets the edge and holds contain. You don't notice him unless he's not there, Todd. That's the highest compliment in the business."

Pick 2.03 — John Stones, DEF, Manchester City

"Now HERE is a pick I love, Mel. Undersized by traditional standards — but his quickness in the slot is just different. Tuchel said he and Bellingham can play together as 'accomplices, not enemies.' That is the most wholesome post-draft quote I have ever heard in 22 years of doing this."

Pick 3.03 — Eberechi Eze, MID, Arsenal

"Another dual-threat playmaker in the mold of Bellingham. But fresher legs, more raw athleticism. Tuchel went skill position heavy in Round 3 and I am HERE for it."

Pick 3.04 — Kobbie Mainoo, MID, Manchester United

"One of the most-watched prospects heading into draft week. Fine form since January. Todd had him sliding to the 4th round, but Tuchel pulls the card early. The board breaks. You LOVE to see it."

Pick 3.05 — Noni Madueke, FWD, Arsenal

"Speed off the edge. Let's be honest, this kid was an afterthought on most boards, but his numbers out of Arsenal have been quietly excellent. Value pick. Tuchel gets credit for this one."

Round 4 — The Specialists and Swing Men

Pick 4.01 — Jordan Henderson, MID, Brentford

"The veteran presence. Every Super Bowl team has one. He's been a captain, a leader, played everywhere. Some analysts had Henderson falling out of the top 26 entirely given his age — Tuchel says otherwise. Leadership grades don't expire."

Pick 4.02 — Elliot Anderson, MID, Nottingham Forest

"A young, energetic linebacker. Box-to-box coverage, never seems to tire. Tuchel's running back corps is going to LOVE this guy. The bean-bag guy — you saw the profile piece. Completely unbothered."

Pick 4.03 — Ezri Konsa, DEF, Aston Villa

"Versatile defensive back — can line up at corner or safety depending on the week. That flexibility is gold at tournament football. You never have enough guys who can play multiple positions, folks."

Pick 4.04 — Dan Burn, DEF, Newcastle

"Big. Physical. Does not care about your aesthetics. Tuchel said Burn can play left back, center back — he will play wherever you need him. The ultimate utility pick. Six-foot-seven of pure 'get in the way of stuff.'"

Pick 4.05 — Jarell Quansah, DEF, Bayer Leverkusen

"International slot. Quansah went to Germany this year and the tape? Quietly excellent. Good instincts, good size. Can cover right back if needed. Tuchel trusts the process."

Round 5 — The Wildcards and the Gasps

Pick 5.01 — IVAN TONEY, FWD, Al-Ahli ⚡⚡⚡

Djed Spence and Ivan Toney — England's two biggest draft surprises — the dropped-jaw picks that broke every mock board. 1

Pick 5.05 — Dean Henderson, GK, Crystal Palace

"Your QB2. Reliable backup. If Pickford tweaks something, Henderson slides in — been a starter before, won't be rattled by the moment."

Pick 5.06 — James Trafford, GK, Manchester City

"QB3. Tournament safety blanket. Every team needs a third goalkeeper and Tuchel goes academy-pipeline with Trafford. The draft is complete."

The War Room's Biggest Calls

Thomas Tuchel at England squad press conference — Thomas Tuchel faces the cameras after confirming his selections. "I am a competitor. I arrive in the US with hunger." 2

The Toney Heist — Nobody had this. Tuchel took the phone call, watched the numbers, and said yes. This is either the boldest pick of the tournament cycle or a cautionary tale. No in-between.

Trent Alexander-Arnold: Unsigned — The Real Madrid right-back sits in the green room, suit pressed, phone silent. Tuchel said it plainly: defensive trust issues. Twenty-six picks. Zero calls. That's the business.
