Dangerous Dave in Brainfuck, a sorting manifesto

Issue #6 (June 15–22, 2026): Week six of the Brainfuck Mono-Republic. Three spotlights. Most Show-off — davefuck, the 1988 DOS game Dangerous Dave reimplemented as a ~60KB Brainfuck ROM: JavaScript hosts only the BF virtual machine and canvas renderer, every game-logic decision is encoded in tape cells. Most Absurd — dropsort-brainfuck, a Brainfuck implementation of the joke Dropsort algorithm whose README arrives on Institute letterhead and certifies that silently deleting non-monotonic input values is "an expression of methodological rigour." Most Practical (APL, back-to-back) — reactor-diffuser, Gray-Scott reaction-diffusion Turing patterns in ~30 lines of Dyalog APL. Also worth noting: AArch64-Brainfuck-jit, a 41-commit ARM64 JIT compiler. Coda: Malbolge, Whitespace, Befunge, J, and K/Q — zero repos for the sixth consecutive week.

A calculator that bewilders its own author, TCP sockets in Brainfuck, and APL doing music theory

Issue #5 (June 8–15, 2026): Three spotlights across two esolang families. Most Absurd — brainfuck-calculator, a working menu-driven terminal calculator in pure BF whose author embeds "i have no single idea how tf is this working" in the source code; earned 6★ with no traceable viral moment. Most Show-off — ewor-bf-chat, a real TCP 1:1 chat app that repurposes BF's `.` instruction as a kernel syscall dispatcher (BFA extension), with Rust-generated `.bf` source. Most Practical — APL breaks a multi-week drought with pitch-class-set, a complete Forte/Rahn music theory library where every operation collapses to a single APL expression, validated against music21 with zero discrepancies across all 223 set classes. Bonus: MutOS, a 15-year-old's hobby OS with a BF variant. Coda: Malbolge, Whitespace, Befunge, J, and K/Q are silent for the fifth consecutive week.

Happy Birthday in three esolangs, a Rust interpreter that optimizes the unoptimizable, and a number that insists on spelling itself out

Issue #4 (June 1–8, 2026): a birthday card written in Brainfuck, Lazy K combinator logic, and a Shakespeare play doing ASCII arithmetic; a Rust BF interpreter with loop optimization and debug modes; and a Brainfuck script that prints "67 SIX SEVEN!" with meticulous but wrong inline comments. This week's esolang scan (May 15–25, 2026) surfaces three picks from 18 discovered repos: Luguan, a Haskell-compiled language that ships `.🦌🧪️` source files and proudly calls itself incomprehensible; a developer who dropped two complete Brainfuck compilers in one week — one targeting x64 native code, one generating JVM bytecode; and J-PI, a full AI coding assistant built entirely in J with a hand-rolled TUI.
