🟡 Yellowthroat ID

Ep 40/59: Common Yellowthroat is the masked little warbler of wet weeds and brushy edges, with quick clues for field marks, flight, song, and look-alikes.

That black mask is doing almost all the ID work.
Common Yellowthroat is a small warbler of wet weeds, brushy edges, and tangled backyard corners. The male's yellow throat plus black mask is the fast clue; females and young birds are softer olive-brown with yellow underneath and no mask.
Swipe through for the perched marks, the low fluttery flight style, the "wichity-wichity-wichity" song, and the yellow look-alikes that cause the most second guesses.
If you hear the reeds singing, look low before the bird drops back into cover.
