ð ASL Sign of the Day: WHEN
One circling index finger around a fixed point = WHEN. July Time Expressions, Ep. 15.
ã®ã£ã©ãªãŒ
Picture a clock hand spinning around a center peg. That's exactly what WHEN looks like.
Point both index fingers up. Rest your dominant fingertip on your non-dominant fingertip. Now circle your dominant finger clockwise â one full loop â and land back where you started.
That contact point is the pivot. The orbit is the question: at what moment?
Raise your eyebrows while signing it and the meaning shifts from a statement to a genuine question â the non-manual marker does the heavy lifting.
Memory anchor: clock hand + center peg = "at what point in time?"
Try it: "When does the movie start?"
