Apple TV+ is in an unusually crowded week. Two long-running shows end their seasons on the same day, a 97% Certified Fresh spinoff drops its third episode, and the platform's highest-profile new title is only halfway through its run.

Cape Fear — Limited series premiere ✦ Watch It

MacDonald's 1957 novel The Executioners, the source of both the 1962 and 1991 films — casts Bardem as Max Cady, a convicted killer released after serving his sentence and returning to settle a score against the Bowden family (Adams and Wilson). The series has already earned its logline: critics agree Bardem is doing something worth watching, even when the surrounding material strains toward pulp excess. 1

Set in London: a junior detective (Jumbo) and a senior detective (Capaldi) with opposing agendas collide over an old conviction one of them believes was wrongful. Pillion (2026) ✦ Binge-Worthy

The film then does the thing good A24 films do: treats its BDSM premise not as shock material but as a lens for examining emotional vulnerability, consent, and how people negotiate their own needs. It is darkly funny and unexpectedly affecting. 5

Harry Lighton is making his feature debut here. Pillion received a limited theatrical release in February 2026 and is now widely available. Most people still don't know it exists.

A few notes:

Loving Vincent (2017) is entirely hand-painted in oil — 65,000 individual paintings to create 94 minutes of film. The story follows the postman's son who delivers Van Gogh's final letter and ends up investigating the artist's death. At 84/87 RT, it's one of those films that deserves a bigger audience than it ever got. 13

Fast Charlie is a 2023 crime thriller starring Pierce Brosnan as a veteran mob fixer who goes on a revenge mission after his boss is killed. 83% from critics, 81% from audiences — it's a clean, efficient B-movie that knows what it is. 14

Office Romance (Netflix Original, JLo and Brett Goldstein) scores a 47% Tomatometer. The critics' consensus wasn't pulled in this window, but a 47/62 split on a rom-com is a firm skip when better alternatives are available.

Hulu

Hulu's week is smaller in volume but has two strong originals — a British comedy with a premise that sounds wrong and plays completely right, and the Colleen Hoover adaptation that became a cultural phenomenon in 2024.
