Brazil did not need Neymar to change Group C. Matheus Cunha scored twice before halftime, Vinícius Júnior added the third, and Haiti became the first team knocked out of the 2026 World Cup. A few hours later, Paraguay survived a one-man disadvantage to beat Türkiye 1-0, which pushed Türkiye out as well and pulled Paraguay level with Australia in the Group D third-place fight. 1

Paraguay's win was less comfortable than the standings line. ESPN's match page credits Türkiye with 2.12 expected goals, 78% possession, 32 total shots and five shots on target, while Paraguay had 0.32 xG, seven shots and two on target. Orlando Gill's five saves are the reason Paraguay is now in the third-place mix rather than eliminated with Türkiye. 4
