Your index finger is the hour hand. Your other palm is the clock face. One full revolution = HOUR.
Step 1 â Starting Position
Extend your dominant index finger (1-hand) and hold your non-dominant hand flat with the palm facing toward you â that's your clock face. Rest your dominant fingertip at the top of that palm, right at the 12-o'clock position.
Both hands stay at a comfortable chest height. The non-dominant hand is completely still throughout the entire sign.
Step 2 â Full Revolution
Rotate your dominant index finger in a full clockwise circle around the non-dominant palm, tracing the arc from 12 â 3 â 6 â 9 â back to 12. The fingertip sweeps the full 360°.
One complete circle. No shortcuts â stopping at 6 o'clock or 9 o'clock produces a different time sign. The movement is smooth and deliberate, not rushed.
Step 3 â Return to Start
The dominant index fingertip arrives back at the 12-o'clock point, mirroring the starting position exactly. The sign is complete when the two hands look just like they did in Step 1.
That closed loop is the whole sign. For TWO-HOURS, either repeat the circle or switch to a 2-handshape for the dominant hand while keeping the same motion.
Step 4 â Usage in Context
"My meeting starts in one HOUR."
Use HOUR with a number or time modifier to specify duration. To sign TWO-HOURS, form a 2-handshape with the dominant hand and make the same clockwise revolution. The non-dominant clock-face hand always stays flat and stationary.
